      Quite a nice strong cider

To be honest I did try this once a long while back and was appalled and never thought I would drink it again but as they say, never say never. Last night I was at Tesco and saw it on offer for £8 for 12x 440ml cans which seemed a fairly alright price so gave it another shot.

The cider either comes in small or big bottles or the cans, personally i prefer the cans because with these it means that you can have your pint glass full of ice and still fit the contents in whereas with the pint bottles you're unable to do this. First impressions of the cider after opening the can are not great, the scent is quite overwhelming and not particularly nice at second sniff i didn't change my opinion on that. I then tried the cider and was pleasantly surprised, for a "super strength" cider it actually tasted quite good, others such as frosty jacks aren't quite so easy on the tongue, but this had taken me aback. I would say the flavor was quite a nice and original but it seemed to have an almost Magner'ish taste to it. I'm quite a big fan of cider so it's not a huge surprise that i developed a love for this cider but i do think that if you're looking for a stronger cider or one with a bit more of a kick then you should probably try this.

In conclusion this is definitely one for the stronger cider lovers and those who want to try something new, if you're not a cider head then i definitely wouldn't lose your virginity to this as it could put you off for life but for strong drinkers this is a sure choice. This can also be purchased fairly cheaply when on promotion such as the 12 cans for £8 at Tesco's

      Not for or my boyfriend!

I have never ever been a huge cider drinker. However now I live in the West Country I have now got a bit of an appreciation for the stuff as it is literally everywhere along with Mead and often when I go to friends houses they have what is often referred to as rough cider (from the local farms etc) and believe me that can really blow your head clean off if your not careful and its took me a bit of getting used to I can tell you lol!

I however do love Pear cider the best and if in a pub I will drink that if not shorts. My favourite is Kopperbergh and when I was in Asda the other night I fancied treating myself to a couple of bottles of it but this Brother Festival cider was on offer for a pound a bottle instead of nearer to two pound a bottle so I thought I'd give it a go for a change.

      The Packaging:

The bottle that mine came in was dark green and see through with a pull off tin type of lid. On the front of the bottle we are told in yellow, green and white writing that it is Brothers Festival Pear Cider 'Showering Brothers' and that it is 7% alcohol and there is a yellow shadowed out style of picture of people displayed. On the back of the bottle other information listed includes being told a bit about the product, that it contains 3.4 units of alcohol per 500ml serving/bottle (which this is), the best before date is clearly stamped on there and contact details for Brothers are given. Nice enough bottle this is and of course it is as informative as it needs to be.

      The Cider Itself:

The cider is very slightly fizzy with a sharp taste of natural fruit to it however it smells as acidic as it sort of tastes to me. Its a clearish colour with a hint of a yellow colour and of course on the bottle we are told that it is best served chilled (warm or at room temperature this is simply gross!).

Now I shared a bottle of this with my boyfriend watching a dvd the other night and we both felt exactly the same about this drink. It isn't sweet but quite a dry cider, it does taste slightly of pears but not distinctively so and I'm sure some people wouldn't dream it was pear cider and would assume it was apple if you told them it was cider. It is a bit too sharp, drink too fast we felt it tasted a bit vinegary and it loses its bubbles almost as soon as it is poured.

We didn't really like this as it wasn't too our taste at all. I want more pear flavouring to a cider, it to be a bit sweeter and for the flavour to not leave a tinny taste in my mouth for ages after consuming it and all lol!

Available in all good supermarkets, off licences etc.
