I should tell you all before I start that I am one of these people who only drinks beer. And that I go through "brand phases". When I first started I drank all Becks, then Miller, and recently Bud Ice. I was given one bottle by a mate and chilled it for a few days before sitting down to enjoy it with a packet of crisps one night. I don't usually drink at home but this was when I was watching a new DVD and had new exam results so I was celebrating on my tod. The main thing that appealed to me about it were that it tasted like Bud, and I mean real Bud, but went down like Bud Light, with a very smooth texture. The crispness of the aftertaste was surprising since I often find Bud to be quite an overpowering beer, and find that it leaves a thick syrupy taste. This was not the case with Bud Ice, and could I think be down to the ice-water brewing technique. It is a faitly typical beer, but should definitely be enjoyed very cold. This is my mantra with all beers, since warm beer is a crime against humanity, but this is particularly important with Bud Ice. The spiciness of the beer is initially disguised by the crispness of it's texture, and it is only a low temperatures that this spiciness then develops. At room temp it tastes like watery Bud, and this is poor. The packaging is good and doesn't give connotations of "supping" the old "Sock Brew" that so many of these things do (I mean, some of the packages/cans make you look a right fool ... ... Big Bud bottle for example?) Overall Bud Ice is a very good beer with a clean taste and a reasonable price.
