When it comes to lager it's not something I drink very often to be totally honest with you but a couple of weeks back when the sun was shining and before I started my get fit capers I decided I really wanted some to drink in my back garden whilst sunbathing and not really knowing much about lager as I mentioned earlier when I saw 4 cans for 88p in Sainsbury's I thought I'd give them a whirl! The Packaging.... 4 x 440ml white and orange cans with white, orange and black writing on them. On the front I'm told they are Sainsbury's 'Basics Lager 'Light, refreshing, thirst rate!' and there is a scribble of a glass of beer on there and I'm told they ... Read the complete review

In my garage workshop I have a fridge. It's my beer fridge. Last week, after several months, the stock I had bought was down to the last four cans. I don't drink much and have finely honed anti-social tendencies, so it takes me a while to get through any quantity of beer. Anyway, time for action before stocks dwindled to diddly squat. Having researched the current offers from the likely supermarket suspects, I had identified Morrisons as the place to spend my £20 and get 3 boxes of beers. However, we don't have a Morrisons in our town, so, after spending thirsty hours on a couple of garden projects in the last week, I knew I would run out before we could get ... With the credit crunch upon us, most of us are having to tighten our belts a little, but that doesn't mean that we should have to give up everything we enjoy . One of the things I love is flipping open an ice cold can of lager, and enjoying it with a chilli sauce covered kebab . Now, I'd tried Basics Cider not too long ago, and found it really quite enjoyable, so decided to at least give the lager an equal chance to impress, and at 4 cans for a tiny 88p, it wasn't going to be too much of a loss if it wasn't great. The cans are 440ml in size, and have the standard basics range packaging of orange and white, very bland but easy to find on the shelves ... Read the complete review

About 2 months ago now i had a few friends over one night and we thougt we would have a few cans of beer. Our main supermarket in our town is a Sainsburys so we walked up and got some. We bought some branded beer and for an experiment we tried some Sainsburys Basic Lager. You get 4 cans for about 80p, which is a lot ... lot cheaper than the leading brands. The can its self is the standard Sainsburys Basics. White the orange on it. The can is a standar size can for a can of lager but the lager is only 2% volume which is very weak as the branded beers are usually atleast 4%. I opened the can and poured it into a glass and at first it looked alright. ... Read the complete review
