Shipsterns bitter is comes in two varieties: Original and Smooth Flow Draught, both of which are cheap at £2.49 for 4x 440ml cans for the former variety and £2.89 for four cans of the latter. Along with the low price, the stark packaging indicates Shipsterns to be a budget brand, and it is in fact one of Aldi's own brands, and hence only available from Aldi Stores. Favoured with hops and yeast, it is designed to compete with more well known biitters such as John Smiths and Tetleys, and it predictably tastes like a poorer, cheaper alternative to the aforementioned premium bitters.
