Stella Artois Cidre
Advantages: great flavour
Cider is probably one of my favourite drinks as it is so easy to drink and is appropriate for all occasions. I usually stick to the one brand but after going to Tesco and finding this Stella Artois Cidre I loved the look of it instantly. I usually drink Stella Artois beer and really like that and so for them to do cider was even better for me as I love it. I bought a few bottles and some cans as they were on offer for a few boxes so I thought I'd get some in for my party at the weekend. They are quite competitive prices and I always love to try new products.
The Stella Artois cidre comes in both cans and bottles but the bottle is probably my favourite way to drink it. They come in a glass rounded bottle which sort of puffs out at the neck and is wrapped closed with gold foil with apple illustrations over the foil. It has a very classy look and on the label on the front it is also gold with the Stella logo stating that it is Belgian and made with hand picked apples. The can is also quite nice in a cream tall can and it is 440ml again with leaf illustrations around the bottom.
STELLA ARTOIS CIDRE
The cider is best served chilled and I found it very easy to use a bottle opener to take the top off from this. The liquid is a bright orange and golden colour which is really rich looking and it is in a 568ml bottle. The bottle is made from 60% recycled glass and is 4.5% volume as well as being 2.6 units in a bottle. I found with this drink that it looks appealing right away so in a glass it seemed to fill up nicely still leaving some left in the bottle, good value for money.
On the first sip this is a lovely tasting drink, it is sweet and quite mild and doesn't taste much of alcohol so goes down easy. It is refreshing and has that sweet fruity apple taste without being too overpowering. Being on the Stella Cidre website they describe the flavour as being full of red apple and peachy apricot hints as well as a background of spicy oranges and almondy flowers. It is very crisp and although I can't say I picked up on all of those notes it did have a depth to its flavour.
The drink is really nice to drink and I didn't find myself that drunk while drinking it at all but it got me a nice happy way. It's lovely to drink at a party or to drink on a summers day and I found that opening more than one bottle of this, I didn't get sick of the taste and enjoyed it as much everytime I took another sip. It is a drink that I have shared with many people now and not one person has had a negative word to say about it which says a lot.
This drink is perfect for everyone, cider fans will love it and Stella Artois fans should give it a go. Cider is great but you don't want to get stuck bored on the same brand and now that they have launched thise Cidre it is exciting and new. It is now my favourite and I buy it all of the time as it is great value for money and having drunk the can and bottle, I'd say buy the bottle it's the way to go as it seems to keep a more crisp and fresh flavour.and chills a lot nicer.
To buy this cider I am basing it on Tesco's current pricing. A single 568ml bottle is currently £1.29 instead of £2.09 although I'd be happy to pay the full price for this. 4 x 440ml cans are £3 instead of £4.49 and 8 x 568ml bottles are £8 or 2 x for £15 or 4 for £25.
