Known as "wife beater" in some circles Stella Artois is one of the stronger lagers you can buy in the United Kingdom. I must be honest the only time I really drink lager is on a hot day in the summer and even then I would only have the odd bottle of a half pint. It is marketed as a premium brand lager originating from Belgium, it is certainly a lot stronger than most other tap lagers at just over 5% I think. It is best served chilled in a long glass in my opinion, I would never drink it straight from the bottle. It has a nice full bodied look to it. Taste wise it can be very refreshing when you have a thirst on and I find that although ... Read the complete review

It’s time for my first venture into the world of consumer durables so here goes. I spent my Christmas with my good friend Stella Artois. Renowned for it’s sharp, dry taste Stella is one of the most famous of mainstream lagers. Where did it come from and where did it all start? Well, Stella comes from a town called Leuven in Belgium. The original brewery was known as “Den Horen” or “The Horn” and dates back to 1366. In 1708 Sebastian Artois was made Master Brewer. He proceeded to hand his skills down to the following generations. The family house became known as the Artois brewery in 1717. The modern day bevvie came ... Read the complete review

I am not a big lager drinker - I generally prefer cider if I want a longer pint-style drink, but over a weekend we spent camping, I was offered and tried Stella Artois for the first time. Prior to this, my only knowledge and experience of Stella Artois had been that it was a lager that sponsored the tennis championships at Queen's club (although I don't think it does any more!). Stella Artois, or simply "Stella" as it is more commonly referred to is, I am informed, originally from Belgium. It actually doesn't have a very good reputation as it is the type of drink that stereotypically is thought to be drunk by young yobby types who are interested in ... Read the complete review

Stella Artois (also known as wife beater) is a strong lager that comes originally from Belgium, it is 5 % alcohol although I believe in England it's 5.2%. When I was younger than I should have been (too young to get in the pub) I used to be somewhat of a big girls blouse and wouldn't go near beer. Thankfully since those Halcyon days I have seen the light and since then have developed a loving and commited relationship with beer. When I was about 17 something changed in me and my adversion to beer gave way to a powerful lust for the stuff, the first beer I ever got into was Stella. At the time I couldn't get enough of it (drink ... Read the complete review

OVERVIEW Stella is the other lady in my life and I have to say that life wouldn't be the same without her. Stella is a premium strength lager and was first brewed in Leuven in Belgium. The lager has become very popular in the UK which is probably due to its relatively high alcohol content at 5.2%. TASTE The lager has a crisp light taste that is full of flavour and I must admit I always find it very refreshing. I do find the drink quite gassy but the benefit of this is that it helps me to pace my drinking and keeps the cost down. Stella is always my lager of choice except maybe for Budweiser on the odd occasion. In pubs the lager is ... Read the complete review
