Advantages: Refreshing taste, easy to get hold of

Disadvantages: It will give you a terrible hangover if you drink too much

Strongbow is officially the most popular cider sold in the United Kingdom, and unlike the poor quality mass produced lager brands such as Carling and Fosters which dominate the beer market, Strongbow has at least earned its position as the top selling cider, and whilst it is certainly not the best it is not bad at all.

It is always easy to find and usually relatively cheap (I found an 8 cans for £5.75 deal in my local supermarket), and when buying for home consumption it is best to go for cans since the 2 and 3 litre bottled versions are much harder to chill, and generally don't taste half as good.

Ensure that your Strongbow is thoroughly chilled (either a few hours in a fridge or half an hour in the freezer), and I would recommend pouring it into a glass, although unlike lager it still tastes pretty good if you drink it from the can, although I prefer a glass.

It's fizzy and bubbly with an aroma of crisp, sharp apples, a refreshing taste and a clean, dry finish. It makes an excellent drink for summer due to its very refreshing properties. At 5.3% it is also rather strong so I would recommend that you pace yourself or at least drink plenty of water if you are going to be drinking this in any quantity.

Overall, for a big brand mass produced cider this is good stuff, you can do a lot worse than Strongbow so if you've not tried it before then it comes recommended.

Summary: Good standard cider, refreshing summer drink
