 ... Youngs pubs that usually stock it. However if you are not lucky enough to live down here, then it can prove to be a bit tougher. If you know any specialised beer shops in your vicinity that's your best bet, otherwise I have seen it in Waitrose before (no use if your in the North). When you do find it, it can often be a tad on the expensive side, usually they try to charge me about 4 quid for a bottle in the pub, obviously much less in a shop so look out for it. Any way, its still worth it because this beer is DA BOMB...more

So Youngs is not based in London any more! It got bought out by Bedford Brewery Wells, so the fact that it is called special LONDON ale is a slight Misnomer. However the journey from Bedford to London does not do anything to harm the quality of the beer, so here is one extremely tasty beverage...with nothing to do with London. This stuff is amazing, its bitter but doesn't taste dusty like some of those weaker bitters, its got a real kick to it and the flavour kind of snaps in your mouth since there is a slight fizz to it. Special London Ale is a Fine Bottle condotioned Ale brewed by the Youngs Brewery in Wandsworth. Bottled conditoned means that a small amount yeast is added to the bottle on bottling. Like Cask ales but to a lesser extent this allows the flavour to be enhanced. Special London Ale is avaliable in Sainsbury's, Youngs pubs and many other places The beer is a deep golden brown flavor. There is certainly a strong hop presence in the smell. The beer initially has a slightly sharp hop taste but is not bitter. This gives way to a smooth malty after taste.
