“ Brand: Zamkowe / Type: Ale „
Another superb strong beer from the Namyslow brewery to compliment the excellent Basztowe Super Mocne is Zamkowe Mocne. In case you missed my review of that beer, Namyslow is a brewery in the South West of Poland that make some extremely likeable beers.
Apart from the notable Zorroesque Z at the top of the beer can, Zamkowe could easily be mistaken for Bastowe in the shop. The can looks similar and they also share the same date that the beer was established due to them coming from the same brewery.
When poured, the beer has a dark golden amber colour and a large white head that sticks around for a considerable time. It has a strong malty smell, the taste is rather sweet but not too sweet and it is well balanced by a spicy hoppiness, it's also very smooth and does not leave a strong aftertaste.
The beer is also sold for export and is often called "Rycerskie", if you come across either Zamkowe or Rycerskie be sure to give it a go. I've never tried the regular versions but the full-bodied strong lager that is "mocne" is highly recommended.
This strong lager (7.0%) is extremely well-priced and one that I prefer much more than its fancy and more pricier Belgian and German counterparts.
