My daughter had asked for a bike for Christmas last year and the obvious choice was a Disney Princess one as she is simply crazy about anything linked to the princesses. When I went to collect the bike the shop assistant asked if I would like a helmet also which I hadn't actually planned on buying that day but seeing the choice of two Disney Princess helmets it seemed ideal to purchase one there and then.
As there were two princess helmets to choose from I decided to opt for the one that matched the bike more closely. The style of the helmet is just like any other, made from a strong plastic material with a cushioned interior. The base colour of the helmet is a pastel pink in colour which has a glittery appearance to make it that bit more girly. On the side there is a picture featuring three of the Disney Princesses - Ariel, Cinderella and Tiana (from Princess and the Frog).
The inside of the helmet is padded well with foam covered polystyrene which ensures the childs head is well protected. The locations of the padding are well situated at all the pressure points on the head and also ensures comfort for the child when wearing the helmet. At the bottom of the helmet there is a set of adjustable straps which fasten under the childs chin. There is quite a good length on the straps and fits head sizes 52cm to 56cm. The straps fit comfortably under the chin and clicks into place with a snap close buckle.
This particular helmet has six vents on which ensures head cooling when your child is out and about on their bike or scooter. My daughter will happily wear this helmet when she is playing on her bike or scooter, though her initial thoughts when she saw it was that it would make her head look big! Thankfully we haven't had any bad falls however once she fell off her scooter and banged her head on a lampost (clumsy just like me!) and her head was absolutely fine which gives me a great confidence for if/when she does have a fall off her bike.
I think this is a really nice helmet, it has a lovely design on it and protects very well so overall I would happily recommend this to any parent buying one for their daughter. I bought the Disney Princess helmet from Smyths Toy Store for £16.99 but you can find similar helmets on Amazon from just £9.99.
Thank you for reading my review.
For Christmas my mum and dad bought my little girl a Razor scooter. She has just started to become more confident on it now at two and a half and its so cute to watch her peddling and zooming down the street on her scooter. One of our requirements for her though was to wear a helmet whenever she went out on the scooter. She's been really good and does wear it and doesn't attempt to take it off but that might have something to do with the fact that its a Disney Princess helmet and she thinks its really cute and fun to wear.
The helmet is a bicycle helmet but its just the same as if she was riding a scooter or a bike (we're looking forward to buying her a bike soon when she can reach the pedals!!) The helmet is made of a light plastic/fibreglass type material so its light on her head but the theory is that if she does fall off and hit her head it will protect her and stop her from damaging her head badly. Hopefully we never need to worry about this but I think its way better to be safer than sorry. We had to buy the smallest size possible as her head is so small and as the outside of the helmet is big she ends up looking a bit like a lollipop head but inside it fits her well.
Inside the helmet there is a hard styrofoam shell which is moulded so it fits the shape of the head. THen there are strips of foam padding inside the helmet, located at all the points that a little ones head would need padding on. There are two strips at the top of the head, one at the front of the head, one at the back of the head and one on each side. These foam strips make the helmet fit comfortably and my little girl says the helmet does not rub at all when she has it on. There are then adjustable straps which fasten underneath the chin. These do tighten up quite far so even if you have a little girl with a tiny pixie face like mine, the helmet will still tighten and stay put. On the top of the helmet there are eight air vents which keeps the head cool when they are doing all that exercise.
The helmet is really pretty looking. It is a light pink colour with a picture of the four Disney princesses on it, Snow White, Sleeping Beauty, Cinderella and Belle as well as lots of stencilled designed flowers all over it. We bought ours for £19.99 from Halfords but I think they sell them in places like Argos too. An essential buy if you have kids who play on bikes and scooters.
When I was a young nipper, all those years ago, wearing a bicycle helmet was something I would never do. I know in hindsight that was a bad move but I did anything I could, despite my parents protests to avoid wearing them! But now the roles are reversed I am the one insisting on the youngsters wearing the helmets and this helps.
I guess one of the main selling points of this for me was the colour. I knew that wearing the boring black helmet I had was dull but I figured if I bought the youngster a nice attractive coloured helm et it would make it easier....also served as a good gift at xmas! This comes in bright pink and brought a huge smile to my little girls face as she opened it and was keen to try it on. Good signs. The sketchings and design are good quality so half the battle is already won!
Secondly, I needed something that was going to perform the main duty of this helmet...protection. I was aware that some helmets have had bad press for being terrible quality so I needed to know this would protect my young one. And I have no worries there!
At £19.99 it is worth every penny, it feels superbly crafted and is tough, durable and tight. The whole strapping system is solid and feels secure without causing too much comfort. It first superbly, the inside feels comfortable and above all the well made feeling I get with this gives me the confidence this is giving my daughter protection.
Overall this is a superb

Two years ago we brought Lauren her first real bike, being princess mad, I brought a Disney Princess themed one. To go with this, I also brought a Disney Princess Helmet.
The helmet cost £16.99 from Toys R Us and is currently available to purchase online and in store.
I really like the appearance of the helmet; it looks really pretty and 'girly'. It is predominantly pink with gold crowns printed on and it has a purple trim. To each side, there is a picture of Cinderella, Belle, Sleeping Beauty and Snow White with a nice scroll of pink roses underneath.
The helmet has foam padding, 14 air holes in the top and an adjustable strap which fastens under the chin.
The helmet measure 50 to 54cm which is recommend from 3 years. When I brought, I had no idea what size helmet Lauren would need, but in store, Toys R Us have tape measures and instructions on where to measure, the staff were really helpful on which size Lauren would need and once we had picked this helmet, we tried it on and the staff confirmed whether it fitted correctly.
It feels quite light like most helmets but also feels good quality, touch wood, we have never had any accidents but I would feel confident it would protect Laurens head was she to fall off.
Lauren loves to wear this, we also have the matching knee and elbow pads and quite often, she will put them all in when just playing in the house!
Overall, I would recommend this helmet, it is good quality, nice & pretty design, reasonably priced and I cannot find any faults.
Thanks for reading.
