I bought my matt black giro atmos in 2007 when I used to skate regularly and I loved it! It had the best design I had ever seen from any helmets makes. I saw it the first time in a tour de france on the discovery channel team, and of course Lance Armstrong was wearing it. Immediately I knew I had to get it so I bought it and left my other giro pneumo aside to wear my new sexy atmos.
The padding is really good and since its so light you barely feel the weight on your head, but always knowing you are protected by the best helmet in the market. I think the only things I did not like in the long run was the fitting system at the back which works great but is really delicate and with the sweat you produce and regular use starts to deteriorate and breaking apart. I therefore had to buy a new one and that is the other downside, its price. I get it's got the best engineering but in the market you can get another good enough for a third of what this one costs.
I will not be swayed by sporting good I see on famous athletes any more, they most likely don't even pay for them so durability is not an issue for them!
