I bought this helmet from a specialist sports shop for around £140 as I needed a new lightweight helmet for when I train on my bike for long distance on-road marathons. I had heard good things from my friends about this helmet and it seemed like a good investment as I have had some pretty bad falls in the past!
I had an atmos before having the ionos and from looking at them you can see the evolution. The best thing about the ionos is its superb design that, being lighter than the atmos, makes it perfect for those long biking sessions when you are so tired that the minimum extra weight kills you. But with the ionos you will barely feel it, however you will always be protecting your most valuable body part.
Its padding is fantastic and unlike other helmets, this one does not leave marks on your forehead when you take it off after a long bike ride.
The downside like with every other best giros helmets is the fitting system which starts coming apart with the regular use, something very annoying considering they do not sell that accessory so in most cases even if the rest of your helmet is perfect without a scratch, you still would have to buy a new one.
