      Very helpful

I purchased a Marin Rock Springs Mountain Bike about a year and a half ago and I can say it has had its problems but its been more than worth the money I payed. The Bike is a 99 spec bike and I originally payed £1095 for it.Yes I know lots of you will say what a waste of money on a push bike, but at the age of 16 it was my only form of transport and I love mountain biking spending most weekends either at Nantwar Quarry or Delamere Forest. The Bike originally came with front and rear Diatech cable pull disc brakes. This was what at first enticed me to the bike but after only the second off-road ride the pin on the rear one broke and in the end I had it changed 3 times in a year because it kept breaking.Marin where already onto this and had brought out an update to Hope Sport hydraulic disc brakes. You could trade your diatech brakes in and for £195 get the upgrade.Again this was alot of money involved but I was fed up with the clanging noise and the pin braking on the brakes. In the end it was more than worth the money the brakes are far stonger, been very reliable, look better and don`t make a noise atall.I would certainly recommend these brakes. As for the rest of the bike it has front and rear suspension. The rear has 5 inches of travel and makes riding faster and alot more comfortable. The font has Mozo Pro 3.5`s on containing 3.5 inches of travel only as with all suspension forks you don`t get the full amount out.I did have a play with the springs in it tho and made them have more travel but they did tend to bottom out a bit.The bike mainly has a stx-rc groupset which has 24 gears.STX-RC has been very reliable for me nothing has broken even under the immense pressure of jumping at Delamere. The front Mec is Alivio which is not at the high end of the groupset league but I have suffere no trouble with it+to be fair the further up the groupset league you go the more expensive things get and to be honest its only weight differnce of not alot and looks which make them
any better on the whole. Finally it has Mavic X138 Rims which do easily buckle I may add but are light and offer good performance. Just as a thought I would just like to say to people who see bikes that look the same as this in Halfords etc which are alot cheaper and say that they are just as good.Don`t be fooled the suspension has hardly any travel, reliability will be poor generally although if you don`t hammer it you should be Ok,and the disc brakes won`t stop you well. I have recently though had to put my bike up for sale not for any reason other than I desperatly need a car at 17 and I just havn`t got enough money for one without selling my bike which iam very upset about. Its still up for sale at the moment so anyone interested leave a commentry!
