Wilkinsons Plastic Bin
by benclark88 When I first moved into my new home I invested in a value bin to save the pennies. A year down the line I had basically a bucket left as I had broken the lid due to its poor quality. This prompted me to go in search of a new bin which had a nice sturdy lid. Whilst shopping in Wilkinsons I came across a plastic bin for just ... £5.49. After giving the lid a few whacks to make sure it was sturdy I was happy to take advantage of this generous bargain. The bin comes in a dark grey/black colour from head to toe. I prefer a dark colour bin in the kitchen as light ones tend to look disgusting it you spill anything on them. The bin is a good size for a kitchen holding 25 litres. For me it fits nicely inside one of my taller kitchen units although it is not a complete eyesore and would not ruin a kitchen if out. It is made from a tough plastic which over the past 7 months I have owned it has never lost its shape. Despite being in constant use the colour of the bin still looks. When empty the bin is extremely light which is handy when moving it around. To maintain and clean the bin is very easy. I just use a few squirts with antibacterial spray and wipe it down with a damp cloth. If I accidently split a bag in the bin I sometimes take it outside for a hose down. The lid is very useful. It slides backwards to open up the bin. When closed it keeps the smell of the bin inside. When removing the line you simple lift the off. I have dropped the lid many times and given it a few whacks and it still works fine. I saw a few weeks ago this was still in Wilkinsons for £5.69. This time I saw it was available in a variety of colours such as blue, red and white. In my opinion the black/grey still looks the best. I would highly recommend anyone in need of a bin to snap this up. Read the complete review |

Wilkinsons Bin Lift Lid Silver
by xxfoxyredxx One thing that drives me potty about my kitchen is its weird and small shape. Not only is it a small room but it has odd walls, a thing I didn't notice when I took my flat on! An example of this is that I recently got myself a tumble drier and it wouldn't fit into the slanted space. It's just a really odd room! Sick of having ... carrier bags hanging off my door handles and the likes I decided I needed a bin, nothing too large or obtrusive because of the room size and mainly its just me and my mate using it anyway so off I trotted to Wilkinson's knowing that they had a selection of bins in there and in different colours, shapes and sizes and of a reasonable price too. This bin when I spotted it seemed perfect for me. In a nice silver colour, plastic of course and my one holds 25L or rubbish and stands at 52cm with a width of 32cm so it was just the right sort of size I was looking for. It's an oblong based bin with a lift up lid that you simply pull up and move down with the lettering wm engraved on to that. This lid is very secure indeed and sits on the base securely however it is easy to remove so you can wipe clean the bin with ease and keep it hygenic. So the whole lid can be removed easily, its a great bin to wipe down as its plastic and all in all I really do like this bin very much indeed. If you also like this bin it is also available in a larger 50L size and you can buy the pedal bin style if you prefer too which cost a couple of quid more than this one. All in all though I am really pleased with this bin and that it only cost me £6.50. Its sturdy enough and does what I need it to and is plenty big enough for me and a standard black bin bag fits in it nicely too! Wilkinsons Plastic Bin
by birdcharlotte When we moved into our new home, we looked everywhere for a bin for our kitchen. It seems like the simplest thing to buy and you should just pick up the first one that you see, but they're so expensive and I didn't want to pay £20 for something to put rubbish in! Whilst picking up our last few essentials in Wilkos, I spotted ... this bin and went to check the price, convinced it would be atleast £20! So when I saw that it was £5, I brought it without even thinking because I had to rid myself of this bin stress! The bin is a light grey colour and comes with a matching lid that sits on the top. I didn't care about the colour when buying it as it was only going under our kitchen counter anyway but the grey actually looks quite smart in our black and grey kitchen. Size-wise, the bin looks quite small, however we have found that it holds a lot and does not get full too quickly. The website says that this holds 25 litres, which seems a lot to me but I'm not very good with measurements. The lid has a flap on it that has to be lifted to put stuff in it, as strange as it may sound, I love this part of it! With bins that have push down lids, my boyfriend will sit his plate on the top to dispose of leftovers, resulting in the lid getting covered in food and me having to clean it. With this one it is impossible for him to do this. When we brought this, we said that if it broke too easily we would pay for a decent one. However, we have been using it for almost six months now and it is still going strong. For £5 you cant go wrong and it beats paying £20-£30 just to keep your rubbish in your kitchen for a couple of days Read the complete review |
