I bought this waste bin for my elder son's bedroom when his room was decorated. This was some time ago and he is now in a different room in the house and now the bin doesn't look as good in the new room which has different decor. I haven't replaced the Osco bin yet though and it does still look okay.
This bin is lasting extremely well and it really is proving to be a good purchase.
My son's previous room was modern and simplistic looking with technology featured quite heavily in the room. It had a look of an office if it wasn't for the bed!
Because of the modern look I thought that a modern looking silver mesh bin would be one of the accessories that would best suit the room.
This bin is made of a fine wire mesh.
I purchased this bin in the silver colour but it is also available in black. I think that silver mesh and black mesh will suit most modern style of room.
I would say that this bin really is useful and it is ideal to use in a bedroom, study or an office to help to keep things tidy.
The Osco bin is good for disposing of dry items such as paper but anything too small such as pencil shavings can filter through and make a mess so a bin liner might be a good idea to place inside the bin.
SIZE OF BIN
250 x 250 x 275mm
* This bin can be matched with other mesh items such as desk tidies and paper trays.
I purchased this bin from a Staples high street store. I can't remember how much I paid for this item but it currently sells for:
I would recommend this mesh waste bin.
As this is such a basic product with limited features, there is not much to write about reviewing a standard bin... but i'll start by writing that it's a decent bin at a good price.
I've had this bin for several years. I was wanting to purchase a bin to sit under my desk so that I could use it solely for paper. I think I bought it from Ryman's at around £4-£5. I particularly wanted a mesh bin as I knew with it being kept under the desk it would be easier to see when it was getting full.
The bin has a thick outer edge around it and so if you were using a bin liner/carrier bag inside it, then it sits easily inside the bin. This makes it quick and easy to empty the contents of the bin.
The holes within the bin are quite small so items do not fall out when emptying in. Although at times I have had some staples manage to get through the mesh.
The dimensions of the bin are: 275 x 260 x 260mm and after looking online I can see it is priced at £4.99.
The bin can also be found in black as well as silver. I purchased the silver one as above as I preferred it more.
As I've had the bin for several years I found it definitely worth the money, it is well made and durable.
There are also many other products such as pen pots and letter trays within the same range and so it would be good for an office environment.
I only use the bin for paper and so find I do not need a bin liner, but it can be used for other household waste where it may be best to use a bin liner to avoid a mess.
There is no distinguishable branding around the bin, it came with a tag attached to it showing it was an Osco product which comes off easily. There is also a barcode sticker on the base of the bin which states it's made by Osco and can also be removed. It's a basic silver mesh bin which would do the job and does not stand out too much.
Overall I don't see anything wrong with the bin and think it would be a useful office product.
5 stars from me.

I have this bin in my bedroom and also the same bin in my office at home. It isn't massive in size although it is a good sized bin. As it is made from metal, it goes with every colour and so it doesn't matter what colour the room the bin is in is as it will still go. The bin is also quite light and so is easy to move around. The bin is strong and has already lasted us a good few years; and I'm sure it will last another good few years too.
Even though the bin is made from mesh; the holes are very tiny and so none of the bin's contents fall out which is good. The mesh is also good as it always you to easily see if the bin is full or not, yet at the same time it manages to 'hide' the items in the bin. For the bin in my bedroom, I tend to use the bin for things like beauty items such as cotton wool pads, face wipes, paper etc. In the bin in my office I usually just throw in paper and tissues etc. It's not that great for tiny 'office items' such as staples and paper clips as they squeeze through the holes in the mesh far too easily.
I usually line the bin with a bin liner - not only does this make removing the rubbish from the bin easier (as I just lift the bag out, rather than picking one item out one at a time to place in a bin bag), it also keeps the bin itself clean. There is nothing worse than a bin that gets sticky etc, so I would definitely recommend using a bin liner for this bin. I find that I only need to empty it around once a week which is good.
I would recommend this bin.
Thanks for reading!
When we initially set up our company we used one of the rooms at our previous house as an office. We sourced the main things like desks and chairs and then went to Staples to get the smaller items such as paper trays, pen holder and of course a waste paper bin.
We decided to buy the accessories in black and chose the Osco waste bin although I understand that this particular item is also available in grey. To be honest I can't remember how much we paid but it currently retails at £4.99 in Staples.
The bin is almost cylindrical in shape being slightly wider at the top than at the bottom. It stands 275mm tall and is 260mm in diameter at its widest. So you can see that it isn't huge but it is ideal for a home office where there isn't likely to be an enormous amount of rubbish generated.
The bin has a solid metal base so any tiny bits don't drop straight through. The sides are made from a light metal mesh with a solid rim around the top. I only used ours for paper and card so it was ideal as it was but if I was going to use it for tiny items or messy ones it would have been easy to line it with a bag before use. It is lightweight and so easy to move and easy to empty.
We also purchased the pen pot and a three tier letter tray to match but this bin is smart enough to stand alone without having to be part of a set of items.
I would definitely recommend it and it certainly looked very smart in our office.
Having reread this review I do realise that it is rather short but then - what else can be said about a waste bin?
I purchased this Osco waste bin a while ago to sit next to my computer desk and to mainly use for paper disposal. I was drawn to the bin for its contemporary design and opted for the silver colour as it is also available in black.
I purchased my bin from staples where it is still available for the price of £4.99 which I think is pretty good value for an office bin.
This bin is round in shape and has dimensions of 275 x 260 x 260mm. I find this bin just the right size for a home paper bin but if you were working in an office you may require something bigger.
The bin itself is solid metal on the bottom with wire mesh sides and a rounded rim along the top. This bin is perfect for paper and card but tiny items such as pencil shavings, staples and paper clips etc can fall through the mesh or become trapped in it so you do need to be careful what you use it for. The bin is also easy to empty by just tipping it into a bin liner.
Overall as a paper bin I have been very impressed with it, not only does it look stylish it is a nice compact size it does what I need it too.
We recently had a new bathroom fitted and as I had gotten rid of everything out of there I needed all new accessories to finish it off. The bathroom is in a black and white theme so I was obviously looking for a bin in either of these colours. I could find quite a few white bins but none of them grabbed me but when I saw this bin in the black mesh at my local Staples I bought it straight away as it was exactly what I was looking for.
I paid £4.99 for this bin which they also had in a silver colour. I did want the black one but I also thought that it looked more expensive in this colour. You can get these bins in other stationers such as Rymans and online at Amazon and other online retailers and prices range from £4.99 to £6.99. The bin measures 27.5 cm tall and 26cm wide so it is a decent size and could be used in any rooms in the house. It would look equally as good in a bedroom, lounge or study as it is modern and durable.
As the main body is mesh so you can see how full the bin is but it is close knit enough for the rubbish to be obscured by the pattern of the mesh. I don't think that anything would be small enough for anything to spill out of the holes unless it is a liquid which is something which I wouldn't put in the bin anyway. It has a thin solid black rim around the top of the bin. The metal is quite firm but I think it would bend out of shape if you were to bash it or squash it however I keep it at the side of the sink so it is really out of the way, so hopefully I won't have to worry about this. It is lightweight so is easy to move around and as it is in the bathroom it usually contains wipes, tissues, toilet roll tubes and other bits and pieces so it is no problem to pick up to empty.
They also do matching stationary items such as a letter tray and pencil holder in this range which is good to match if you are using this bin in a study or office. I have had this bin now for around four months and it has shown no signs of wear or tear. I think it looks stylish and modern and I would recommend it as a useful bin to use in your home or office.
This is the bin currently in my house's study as my mother used to work from home a few days a month and needed an office-like space to get her work done. This bin screams 'office' to me as it is very simple and yet modern but also a bit soulless (sorry designers).
The bin is 30cm high with a diameter of 25cm. The barrel of the bin is in a silver mesh so you can see how full the bin is. However this isn't all great as some smaller things like pencil sharpenings or ink refills slip through the gaps. It is small enough to fit under my mother's desk and as such it gets kicked quite a bit, but it has held its shape without too many dents.
The bin is available in silver and black from Amazon for £5.90 though I feel we got it cheaper elsewhere but I can't remember where.
*What I think*
The bin is durable, lightweight (so easy for chucking things out), stylish and cheap. There are lots of matching stationary like pencil holders, letter trays and paper clip pots in the same design.
I'd recommend it!
This is the bin we have for our office at home. We brought it from our local staples for £3.05 a few months back. It was a perfect size to fit in the corner under the table.
Approximately 30cm high and 25cm diameter. It has a modern mesh effect all over apart from the base which is solid metal. There is a solid metal rim around the top to prevent the mesh causing damage and being bent out of shape.
We only empty this bin very week or 2 as it hold more than enough for low traffic area.
This bin was available in silver or black but there was also a whole range of office equipment to match - pen pot, desk tidy, letter tray magazine tidy.
This bin is very durable and I can't imagine we will need to replace it for many years.
Couldn't be happier with this purchase and feel it would fit in to many office or bedroom environments. Definitely a product I would recommend.
When my parents built their house they wanted everything just right afterall when you have come to a point in your life when you can build your own house you want everything perfect and so I started to inherit their cast offs. One of their cast offs was this bin which is available in silver and black and can be bought from Amazon and office suppliers costing around £6.00.
The bin is made of metal and the one we have is black in colour, the bin measures 25cm x 27.5cm so is a decent sized bin especially when we use it in the bedroom so it only needs emptying about one a week. The bin is solid at the bottom and mesh around the sides but the mesh is close knit enough that little pieces of rubbish are not able to escape. The top of the bin is more solid metal around the rim so prevent the bin being bent out of shape.
The bin is pretty strong and hasn't bent out of shape at all and I would say it has been in use for about 3 years now, the bin is pretty lightweight so even when full of rubbish it is light enough to empty with ease. The bin has lost its black colour in some places and you can see the silver base peeping through which doesn't bother me but if it was being used in a public area such as an office then it would be looking a little scruffy. I will give this bin 4 stars due to it starting to shed it's paint but other than that there are no faults with this bin.
