I love products that fit seamlessly into your life and fix a problem that you didn't know you had; this is one of those products.
It is a pull out bin into which you sort your various recycling, we had a spare kitchen cupboard and nowhere to put our recycling which has to be sorted into two boxes, and this solved that problem.
The bin will fit into any standard cupboard and fixes in fairly easily requiring 8 small screws to be screwed into the bottom of the cupboard, the device is stand alone so no attachment to the door. The bins sit on a runner and they glide out when you pull the handle at the top of the frame to reveal a 15l and 20l bin, both of which lift out for emptying and cleaning, for your recycling needs.
Like every simple human product I have ever seen this product has been well designed to do the job - the bins lift out easily, the runners have good movement due to the ball bearing track. You can buy liners to put in the bin, however in our area we are required to sort into cardboard and plastics only so we find that we do not need to line the bins.
You could use one of the bins as your main bin if it were emptied fairly regularly (though note there is no lid to either of the bins), and keep the other one for recycling. I like the fact that this bin is totally hidden in the cupboard.
Pricewise you can expect to pay about £60, however I shopped around and paid about £20 less from lakeland. You can buy directly from the company itself at www.simplehuman.co.uk where there is more information about their other products which seem to focus on making life simpler whilst offering well designed and sturdy goods.
There is a 5 year warranty on this product - I am pretty sure we won't need to use it as after 2 years of everyday use it is as good as new thanks to the sturdy construction.
Not everyone may have a spare cupboard to install one of these, but the company does offer a range of other recycling and storage solutions. We are all being encouraged to recycle more and this product solves the problem for me of where to store two boxes of recycling.
This is a great item that I thoroughly recommend.
