Simplehuman Slim Pedal Bin 30L
Advantages: Sleek design, good capacity, good quality and value for money
Disadvantages: None other than initial cost
When I moved house I realised that I had to leave my bin behind. It was one of those that was clipped onto the back of a cupboard door and whilst it was not my choice it was what we inherited with the house and so when we moved I was glad to be rid and get a free standing bin. In my mind I always thought that I would end up with a Brabantia bin, that was until I saw the price of them and with everything else we were spending money on I had to reconsider. I soon took to Amazon as I had a gift voucher for the online store and had a browse, I did not want something cheap as I wanted this bi to look good and last but I didn't want to pay the prices of the Brabantia bins either so after much deliberating I went for a Simple Human Stainless Steel bin.
This was not a brand that I had heard of until I started looking around the Amazon site. The bin is a slim one and it cost me £49.99, the Brabantia bin in the exact same style and size would have cost me £30.00 more so UI went with this one and placed my order. I have not seen the brand before so I was not sure how the Amazon price compares but I always tend to have a good deal on the website so took confidence in that.
The bin arrived and it was in a cardboard box, I was keen to get it out and put it into place! Who would have thought that I would get this excited over a bin! The bin is a 30 litre capacity and it fits well into the corner of my kitchen. The design is very sleek and it looks great! It is made from a brushed stainless steel material and just inside the lid is a manufacturer's guarantee for 5 years. The bin has a black plastic lid and there is a small pedal at the base of the bin. All I really needed to do was then put the bin liner into the bin. This is quite important as I used to have a bin where the liner would keep slipping between the bin and the plastic surround so the contents of the bin would be sat rotting at the bottom of the bin as opposed to in the bag and that meant constantly cleaning it. The bag for this bin goes into a small 'tuck' in the bin so it sits nicely so when any weighty rubbish is put in the bag stays put.
I was a little concerned that the bin would get grubby, I know there is a button to activate it opening and closing but the chrome may get grubby but it was actually left looking quite good. As the lid of the bin is made from the plastic I was pleased that it stayed looking clean as well. The size of the bin, being the 30 litre capacity and that the fact that it is quite slim looking make this bin a big hit in my kitchen!
In summary, I would not hesitate to recommend this bin and even if it is not this model that you are after then I can see why the Simple Human brand and its quality is great.
4 out of 5 from me on this one
