Tesco Value Swing Bin Liners
Advantages: cheap, good capacity
Disadvantages: thin and rips easily
I don't like spending much on products that I am going to just throw away and, by their sheer function, bin liners are one of those products. I have quite a large kitchen bin and I need quite large liners to fill it properly, I find swing bin liners to be the best fit - even though it is not a swing bin.
These liners are, as you can tell from the name, part of Tesco's value range. They are packaged simply - rolled up with a paper label wrapped around the middle. They come in a pack of 40 liners for £1.15 (so, just under 3p each). The bags themselves are white in colour and made of a rather thin plastic. There is a perforated join between each bag on the roll and this is easily torn to separate the bags - I have found this works very well and have not experienced the ripping of any bags whilst attempting to tear along here like I have with other cheap bin liners.
Once open, the bin liners are a decent size and comfortably line my kitchen bin. They are very thin though and the seam of the bag is quite close to the edge so there is not a lot of 'give' to prevent any splits occurring. The liners hold a decent amount of rubbish before they need to be closed, which is done by knotting the bag - there are no handles or ties to use. This means that you cannot cram the liner completely full as you need the room at the top to have sufficient plastic to tie together.
The liners have let me down on a few occasions where I have tied them in the bin and gone to pull the full liner out to place in the dustbin. This has led to the bad simply ripping in half and leaving me with half the rubbish still in the bin (and usually the other half strewn around my kitchen). This is pretty gross and very inconvenient!
Overall, a cheap bin liner with good capacity but be prepared for a few messy situations. You really get what you pay for here, so you save pennies but have a substandard bag that can be rather irritating!
