A good £90 pair of binos

If you're into astronomy, bird watching or just have particularly attractive neighbours the chances are you will be familiar with the need for a good set of binos and Opticron have sought to provide us with just that with their Oregon 8x32's.

First off (and perhaps most importantly) the optical quality. The 1.25 inch lenses are fully multi coated which means that all lenses are covered by several layers of transmission enhancing coatings. The effect (especially noticeable when using them for stargazing) is that images are good & bright and the binos gather 32x more light than the human eye. The clarity and sharpness becomes clear when watching wildlife, magnified 8x, the wild parakeets that visit my area are bursting with colour that the Oregons display beautifully.

Almost as important is weight, I've used some real breeze blocks over the years and when you've got to hold them up towards the sky for ages at a time scanning for faint objects in the night sky, a heavy binocular can become a real pain. At 515 grams the Oregons are significantly lighter than the first pair of binoculars I ever owned and at 11cm by 12cm they're almost compact enough to carry around in a pocket (although not quite), but they will fit easily into a small bag.

Another cool aspect is that the space between each lens element is nitrogen filled which helps waterproof them and reduces fogging of the glass. When combined with its compact size and fantastic optical quality it all adds up to an impressive pair of sub £100 binoculars.

Within the budget price range the Oregons perform very nicely, clear, sharp images with a good rendition of colour, relatively lightweight and far from unwieldy these binoculars are a good buy whatever your reasons for needing them.

        good quality

        Opticron Oregon LE WP 8x32

When ever I go out walking or to the sea side I like to take the binoculars with me as at the seaside I love dolphin spotting and have seen the dolphins in wales a few times as well as sealions at sea and also I like mountain climbing and looking through the binoculars when your at the top of a mountain as you get such a great view, there really is nothing to compare.

I was lucky enough to purchase these binoculars for £30 at a bootsale as they normally retail at around £85 which is quite a lot to pay, but then again other brands of binoculars can cost well over £100 depending on where you buy and which binoculars you buy, so I was lucky to get mine at a knocked down price.

The binoculars are quite light to carry and are compact, they are comfortable to look through and you can adjust the zoom and the vision to suit your own eyesight, I wear glasses and have to adjust these everytime I use them as my husband does not wear glasses and usually puts them compatable with his eyesight.
As they are a good strong binocular I don't have to wear my glasses when looking through them and can see for miles through them and it is crystal clear.

It has a wheel in the middle for you to adjust the vision when your using them so that you can zoom in and out whilst looking at a specific point or at something like a dolphin, as it brings it nearer to you with the zoom.
These binoculars are waterproof so you can use them by the sea or in a boat without worrying about them getting damaged, they come in a good sturdy carry case so that you can store them away after using them and they are protected by the case.

        They have :-
        BAK 4 - fully multi-coated optical system
Long eyerelief and twist type retractable eyecup assembly
        'Sandblast' rubber armoured finish
        Wide wheel focusing
        Wide-angle 8x32 with 8º field of view
        Close focus to 1.8m (8x32), under 4m (8/10x42)
        5 year guarantee

This is good value if you pay the full price from Amazon or online as they really do make a difference to the view.
They have lens caps which come on and off for when your using them or they are stored in the case .
They look really up to date and are not huge and chunky like some older style binoculars, they fit nicely in the case over your shoulder for when your hiking and they are great to take out with you so that you can enjoy seeing things that you would not normally see.

If your into bird watching then these would be a great style of binoculars to use. I always remember to take them with us when we are walking or camping by the sea as you never know what is about and when you need to check it out with the binoculars.
Seeing a dolphin jumping around in the sea is brilliant, but seeing it through the lenses of these binoculars magnified so you feel up close is amazing.

        I'd definately recommend them.
