Dare To Dream - One Direction
I never watched hardly any of last year's X Factor, and so whilst I had obviously heard of the name 'One Direction'; all I knew of them was that they were a boy band. However, it wasn't until recently that they actually burst into the charts, that I actually took proper notice of them and ending up liking them. However, I didn't know anything about them, and so when I heard that they were releasing a book, I wanted to get a copy so that I could 'swot up' on my new favourite boy band.
One Direction are a British Boyband who were on X Factor 2010. They actually auditioned as individuals however were put together as a band for the live shows. The band consists of: Harry, Niall, Zayn, Louis and Liam; five young lads in their teens.
Dare To Dream is a 100% official book about One Direction. It was released in the United Kingdom in September 2011 and so it is very recent. The book is currently available for sale from Amazon for a price of £5.44 which I think is good value for money.

Well, One Direction of course! In this book, they tell the story of their journey, right from the beginning (pre X Factor) right up until where they are right now. And, it's all in their own words too which is good as they haven't had to rely on someone else to write the book for them.

I have to say that I really did enjoy this book. Normally with 'celebrities', you get to know absolutely everything about them (past and present) through gossip magazines and newspapers. However, I didn't know one thing about One Direction apart from the fact that they were on the X Factor, so I certainly learnt a lot about them and would therefore say that the book is well worth the money.
The book is 288 pages long, however there isn't that much of text. The text is clear and concise which means that it is easy to read. The language is simple which means that it is perfect for children who learning to read.
I like that there are five different sections - so a section on each member, as it lets you 'get to know them' which is interesting. It also allows you to learn about them as 'people' rather than them as a band.
There are lots of pictures in this book; both professional and private pictures. They are quite interesting especially the personal and 'behind the scenes' ones as they are 'natural' and so you get to see the band when they are not posing (professionally). Children who can't yet read will enjoy looking at the pictures too.
The boys come across as being really normal; just really nice guys. They are so grateful to the fans and I think that it is good that they are very grateful and haven't let the fame go to their heads.
I would definitely recommend this book; it would make a great stocking filler for One Direction fans this Christmas.
Thanks for reading!
