I came across the book Girl with a one track mind, written by Abby Lee after reading a review about it on Dooyoo.
The person who reviewed this book warned that it had plenty in it to make anyone blush and was better than black lace books, which seemed a bit too middle of the road for their tastes.
Being a reader of previous black lace books (for anyone not in the know these are erotica books written by women for women and can be found in places such as Ann Summers, as well as on line book retailers) and finding them great myself I thought why not try something a little bit more risqué?
This book is written in the style of a diary, we are told that this book is taken from the diary of Abby Lee who is a self confessed sex addict. Apparently she started writing a blog about her exploits and decided to write an entire book sharing all her sordid secrets!
We start in January and end in December, thus seeing a whole year in her life. In between each month is a list of top tens or 'do's and don'ts' which are quite funny.
Her style of writing is fine and you quickly warm to her and there are a few parts where she is quite witty and funny, however as erotica I didn't find this book very good. It seemed to focus more on her inability to find a partner and generally sort her life out than on the sex.
Having read black lace and even short stories from random top shelf magazines I was expecting lots of descriptions to really get me in the mood. However, what I found was mostly a woman constantly fiddling with herself (frigging, fingering etc, what ever you want to call it) and when she was actually lucky enough to find a man to sort her out she was skimpy on the details and left you feeling like you had been cheated.
Yes some of the things she does detail in the book would probably make some people blush, she has a passing encounter with BDSM (Bondage, Dominance, sadomasochism...in other words rubber, leather, whips and chains), girl on girl action, threesomes and the likes, but again she is quick to skim over the bare minimum of details, so whilst it is an at times educational read, it isn't going to get you going...well it didn't get me going anyway.
Overall I did want to finish the book and read it within about a week, it was a fairly compelling read once I had started, however it wasn't quite what I expected and I felt a little let down.
Would I recommend this book?
Probably not, although it's an OK read it's nothing special, if you like erotica then stick to proper erotica books. As just a general reading book unless you like things a bit controversial then this probably isn't for you either. Although I wouldn't say this was a complete waste of time I won't be reading it again. As I managed to pick this book up from ebay for less than £3 delivered in fair condition I can't complain too much.
If you do think this sounds like something you would still like to read I would advise against it if you are easily offended by sexual content, and as it is basically all about sex I would say this is only for adults, 17-18 years and older.

I absolutly loved this book, it gives you absolutly everything you want. Abby Lee is your average 30 something year old woman, and it really gives the novel a element of reality, we all know someone like her. I would say that this novel is not for those who are easily embarrassed as it has a strong erotic theme but it is lightened up with the authors humour. After reading this book i found it difficult to find another that could compete with it, i still compare every new book i get to this one. If you enjoy a bit of cheeky naughtiness then this is your type of book and once you start you willl not put it down until its finished. I would highly recommend it to anyone. My copy has been around all of my friends and not only did they love it... their partners did too.
So the title 'Gril with a One Track Mind' may initially make you think: 'ok so she likes to think about sex', but i was not prepared for the the amount of sexually explicit content that is contained within the covers! It covers a year in the life and mind of a girl who thinks about/wants/has sex 24/7, with extremely descriptive chapters, by the end of the book i was rather jealous at the stamina Abby Lee has, if only i had that much energy to be at it all the time, have a social life and have a full time job! Not only is it full of her sexual exploits but it is funny at the same time - what more could you want from a fun, light read.
After i had read it, i had suggested that my boyfriend may also like to read it, so he did. Once he started reading he was practically reading it all weekend, he just couldnt put it down so it a good read for both men and women!
Although a word of warning - make sure you are not in public when reading this book e.g on public transport etc and ensure you are in private as you may find yourself extremely excited....that goes for you too boys!
All in all this book is the best book i have ever read :) and would welcome more books by the author, top marks Abby Lee!
The first thing i guess i should say is that i am an extremely slow reader and it normally takes me months to read a book. However, this book took me just under two weeks to read. I felt that this is definately a book that i couldn't put down. The story line is simply brilllaint full of laughter and also extremely sexually explicit which is a great thing if you're in to the sort of Belle-de-Jour sort of book like a handful of women are.
I would thoroughly reccomend this book to any women single or not. This definatley a pleasure book and will leave you rather excited in more ways than one. The only problem i have with this author is that she hasn't made another book like this.
The tone of this book is seriously fun and definately flirty i would say that this is a great summer read however you don't want to be far away from a discrete area and iff you can make sure you're partner isn't too far away...
I was recommended this book and told it was hilarious, when I read it I didn't think it was that funny....well maybe in places but I have read funnier books. It is a published blog and therefore a true account of a year in Abby Lee's life. However it's no 'secret diary of a call girl' so if your expecting that you'll be disappointed.
What is it then? well it IS an account of an intense nymphomaniac and her (very real and personal) experiences, both with lots of men and of escapades such as public sex (bar toilets), threesomes (with a very jealous girlfriend), lesbianism (the sexiness of curves) voyeurism in the extreme and even S and M from her girlfriend who does this for a living and vows to show her a good experience of it.
Not all of these experiences turn out good and all the while there is a real sense of her humanism and that Abby just wants a loving long term relationship....and not solely for sex on tap! We see this from her memories, her cat-like persual of 'blog boy' and her long term friendship with a male friend in her favourite city of New York.
A easy to read, fast paced book but not for the faint hearted. As for being more aimed at men I really don't think this is true as it is very much from a girls point of view...in fact my boyfriend was appalled by her 'loose and easy nature' and was not the slightest bit interested in reading it.
This book is very sexually explicit and seem very far fetched in anyone's minds. I think that men may enjoy this read more than women, even though the main audience fo this piece is females. This book is wrote in the style of a diary from January to December in one year and details all of one woman's sexual exploits in those tweleve months and she certainly does not have a quiet life. If you like a book with a complicated plot this will not satisfy you but if you want a bit of a laugh, then this could be for you.
