Advantages: Interesting!
Disadvantages: Nothing major!
When I used to read about Paris Hilton in magazines , I would think 'oh pathetic spoilt brat!' , although after watching her television show ; Paris Hilton's British Best Friend on ITV last year , I immediately became a fan , and think that she seems to come across as a really nice person. She has such an amazing life; attending all the best parties, getting to travel the world, friend's with the world's most coolest people, unlimited amounts of shopping and a bulging bank acount, that it just instantly makes you take an interest in her life. So after enjoying her autobiography : Confessions Of An Heiress, I wanted to learn more about Paris and so bought this book.
Paris Hilton: Life On The Edge is a biography book written by Chas Newkey-Burden (someone I had never heard of until now, although he has apparently written a number of biographies). This book was released in the United Kingdom in 2008 (three years ago!) and so is fairly dated now. The book is two hundred and eighty eight pages long. You can buy a copy of this book from Amazon for a price of £6.99 which I think is good value for money.
First of all, you will need to be a fan of Paris Hilton to enjoy this book as otherwise you will just find it plain annoying if you do not like Paris. Fans will enjoy this book as it will give them an insight as well as a better understanding as to who Paris Hilton really is.
I really enjoyed this book as I got to learn things about Paris which I had no idea about before. Before I was a fan I had always imagined her to be stuck up, although she seems really sweet and doesn't seem to turn her nose up at anyone. She isn't as dumb as people think either!
I like the way that this book is wtirren. It is written in a simple to read way, and there is nothing confusing about this book. It tells the life of Paris Hilton clearly from start to present.
The majority of things said about Paris Hilton in this book are nice and positive and so fans will be all for this book. Although, I like autobiographies, I found it interesting reading this biography as it was written in a mutual way; By this I mean that sometimes in autobiographies, celebrities are in control of what they are saying and so they can just talk about all the 'nice things' and avoid talking about the 'nasty things' to make themselves look good. Although it was interesting to see that this book was 'all for Paris' and she hadn't written it herself.
I enjoyed this book, although I will admit that there were some parts that I wanted to skip. For example the part where into went in-depth about each episode of the Simple Life; having seen the Simple Life (as I guess a lot of fans will have already), I felt that the amount of description was unessecary.
There are a few photos in this book which I found interesting. I particularly liked the ones of the 'Paris lookalikes'; there were a couple which were spitting image, whilst others nothing at all like Paris which I found funny!
All in all a great read and most definately a fan-must-have.
Thanks for reading!
