Biotherm Biocils Soothing Eye Makeup Removal Gel
by europe-chick
I do really like Biotherm products, they are expensive, but on the whole I do think that they are worth the money. There are a couple of ways to get the products a little bit cheaper; Boots do have the Biotherm products on 3 for 2 occasionally, and they also sell Biotherm products in a lot of duty free shops. I do normally wait and buy ... them either on 3 for 2 in Boots, or duty free when travelling.
One of my most recent Biotherm purchases was this Biocils Make Up Remover Gel for Sensitive Eyes. It costs £15.00 at full price, and you get a 125ml bottle.
This make up remover is suitable for contact lens wearers, and to be honest this coupled with the fact that it's for sensitive eyes were the main reasons that I bought this. I wear contact lenses all the time, and you are supposed to take your contact lenses out before you take your make up off, I don't do this because then I can't actually see what I'm doing! So I always leave my contact lenses in until I've taken my make up off to ensure that it is all removed and that I don't have panda eyes in the morning! I have had problems in the past with some make up removers that have stung my eyes and so the fact that this one is for sensitive eyes really appealed to me. I've had no problems at all with this make up remover, it doesn't sting my eyes even if I accidently get a small amount in my eye, and it's not damaged my contact lenses at all.
This is a gel formula make up remover, the gel itself is a transparent aqua blue colour, it feels really fresh and cooling on my eyes when I take my make up off. It actually really seems to soothe and help if I have tired eyes at the end of the day. To use this I squeeze a small amount onto a cotton pad, I then find it best to hold the gel filled cotton pad on my eye for a few seconds to 'dissolve' my make up and then just wipe it off. There's no need to rub or scrub at my eyes using the the make up remover this way i.e. holding it on to 'dissolve' my eye make up, and it works really quickly. It takes off all traces of my eye make up, including mascara and dark heavy liners or eyeshadows very easily. It doesn't take off waterproof mascara, but then again it doesn't claim to either.
It is really very gentle, it doesn't sting or irritate my eyes at all, it also doesn't dry my skin out, and it doesn't leave a film behind like some other make up removers can do. I do always use a wash off cleanser afterwards, but that's personal choice, it's not to get rid of any film or excess make up left behind by the eye make up remover.
This is very expensive for a make-up remover, especially as it is quite a small bottle - 125ml. However it does work very very well. I find that you do not need to use an awful lot of it to remove eye make up completely, unlike some cheaper brands whereby you end up using loads and loads to take your make up off - making them not so cheap after all as you are constantly having to replace them.
I will definitely buy this make up remover again, and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it. Read the complete review |

Biotherm Aquasource Moisturizing Balm Protective Lip Care SPF 8
by europe-chick
I do really like Biotherm products, they are expensive, but on the whole I do think that they are worth the money. There are a couple of ways to get the products a little bit cheaper; Boots do have the Biotherm products on 3 for 2 occasionally, and they also sell Biotherm products in a lot of duty free shops. I do normally wait and buy ... them either on 3 for 2 in Boots, or duty free when travelling.
One of my most recent Biotherm purchases was this Aquasource Non Stop Lips. It costs £13.50 at full price, and it comes in a 15ml tube.
The tube states that it's a moisturising, protective lip balm, has a SPF of 8, and has a shiny effect.
The tube is a pale pink colour, now maybe this should have been a bit of a giveaway that the lip balm would be a pale pink colour too, but I obviously completely overlooked this and was then totally surprised by the pale pink colour of the lip balm when I first used it! Another thing that surprised me about this lip balm was the fragrance, it's a really fruity peach fragrance, I didn't expect that in a pink tube - maybe in an orange tube!
The lip balm is quick and easy to use, you just squeeze a small amount of the lip balm out of the end of the tube and apply to your lips. You do only need a small amount of this lip balm, as just a very small amount leaves a lovely healthy gleam. Although the balm itself it a pale pink colour it doesn't leave my lips pink, it just seems to enhance my own lip colour and leave them looking a bit more radiant. Although the lip balm says that it has a shiny effect I would say that it is more of a gorgeous natural looking sheen rather than a shine.
This feels really moisturising and hydrating on my lips, my lips feel really soft and smooth after using this. You can feel that this is definitely an indulgent nourishing lip balm, and as such it would be perfect to use year round. This really does feel like it's leaving a protective coating on your lips. I find that I don't have to reapply this very often as even after the sheen has worn I can still actually feel the moisturising effects of the lip balm on my lips. The lip balm contains vitamin e and oil of macadamia along with the sunscreen.
I will definitely buy this again, yes it's expensive but if you get it as part of the 3 for 2 in Boots then this can reduce the price by a third (obviously depending on the cost of the other 2 products that you choose). I like the tube applicator which is handy for on the go, and means not having to dip your fingers into a lip balm pot. It will probably be a staple in my handbag over the winter as I bet that it's perfect for winter parched lips. Read the complete review |

Biotherm Sun Radiance Cristal Gloss Extreme Shine
by europe-chick
I'm normally a fan of the Biotherm products, they are expensive, but on the whole I do think that they are worth the money. There are a couple of ways to get the products a little bit cheaper; Boots do have the Biotherm products on 3 for 2 occasionally, and they also sell Biotherm products in a lot of duty free shops. I do normally wait ... and buy them either on 3 for 2 in Boots, or duty free when travelling.
One of my most recent Biotherm purchases was this Sun Radiance Crystal Gloss. It costs £12.00 at full price, and it comes in a 15ml tube.
The tube states that it's 'Crystal Gloss Extreme Shine', is has an SPF of 15, it gives you protection from both UVA and UVB rays, and that it gives you repulped lips!!
It appealed to me for the sun protection, I know that SPF 15 isn't actually that high, but it's better than nothing, and the majority of lip balms and lip glosses that I own don't have any SPF in them anyway. And I also figured that it would be a bit like a clear lip balm but it would leave my lips with a lovely glossy finish.
It's quick and easy to use, you just squeeze a small amount of the lip gloss out of the end of the tube and apply to your lips. You do only need a small amount of this lip gloss, as I found that if I used to much then it was quite sticky and gloopy on my lips. I wouldn't say that this is 'Crystal Gloss Exteme Shine' by any stretch of the imagination though! The lip gloss is definately a shine rather than a sheen, but it is a subtle shine not an exteme shine. It didn't leave my lips 'repulped' either, if by this they mean the lip plumping look of something along the lines of Lip Venom. I would just say that this just leaves a healthy and natural looking gloss on my lips.
This feels quite moisturising on my lips. It contains vitamin e and pure thermal plankton along with the sunscreens, so these probably help to give the lip gloss its moisturising feel. Although it feels moisturising on my lips at the moment they are not especially dry right now, I'm not sure how well this would work at moisturising my lips in the winter when they are dry and sore from the cold. It doesn't feel meaty enough to deal with that.
I don't think that I would buy this again, there was nothing wrong with it as such, OK so it wasn't 'Crystal Gloss Exteme Shine', but for me that was OK as I did really like the natural glossy shine that it left. It has the SPF which I liked, and it was a nice moisturising gloss, however I think that you can get similar products for a lot less. I don't really think that there is anything out of the ordinary about it to justify the high price tag. Read the complete review |
