      Very helpful

A simple toy that some birds will take to

This little plasticy budgie replica toy was something we bought as one of a number of cage toys for our birds to enjoy. Having kept a number of budgies over the years, I know that they are curious little birds who like to have a few toys to peck at, nibble, nudge and generally investigate.

The Boredom Breaker Budgie On A Spring Toy was something we bought rather cheaply for just £1.29. Whilst it is rather naff and cheap looking to us, our budgies have rather enjoyed having it as their new friend and can often be found perching next to this little plasticy wee fella.

When we bought our Boredom Breaker Bird Toy it came simply packed as shown here in a clear fronted plastic pack, with cardboard backing. As we could see what we were getting for our money, we certainly were not expecting a top quality or in any way life like representation of a real budgie and if thats what you feel your birds would like, then this is not for you.

This little bird is smaller than our birds but still seems to have been adopted by them as their younger, smaller and rather plain looking brother. The features on the Boredom Breaker Bird Toy are basic to say the least, but I do still feel you can tell what this little bird is meant to be. Our birds have certainly taken to him so he must look somewhat budgie like.

The Boredom Breaker Bird Toy has just one single leg that he perches on and that is strong enough for him to hold his head up high when sat on a wooden perching pole. All you need to do to get him sat in place is slightly open the plastic claw effect piece at the bottom and clip that around the wooden perching pole.

Once you have done that its best to make sure Mr Birdie is sat upright, as if not his balance can be effected and he can go slightly to one side or the other. Once he is sat safely in place a small coiled spring at the base between his single leg and the plastic claw fitting is what gives him a bit of spring in his step. It means that when our birds give him an interested peck he will bob about a bit, making our birds think he is joining in with them.

As the little toy is made from simple plasticy material he can be wiped clean if he gets a bit grubby. Thats easy to do and doesn't take more than a couple of minutes to wash, dry and re-site him back on his perch. As bird toys go he is rather simple, but I have found many of these bird toys are, so that hasn't bothered us and it certainly hasn't bothered the birds.

To give the little bouncing budgie a rating I need to take into account not just what he is made from, but also how well he has been received by his new family. If I was rating him on quality, style and presentation, he would get just 3 stars as is does look a bit cheap (ooh a joke...cheap!...oh never mind). As an over all playmate for our birds he deserves 4 stars as they seem to like him and really thats all that matters in this case.
