Advantages: cheap and reliable
Disadvantages: can miss the odd chunk
When I moved into my new flat I had a number of items I needed to purchase. One of those items was a blender. From the blender I just wanted something that was cheap, reliable and essentially blend.
I nipped down to Argos to see what that had to offer. This is when I came across the "Argos Range Liquidiser". What attracted me was its price of just £10.99 and having bought items from the Argos Range before I knew it would not be too shabby. The next step up of blenders was to £20 - £25 which I thought was a little excessive.
The blender is 500 watts with three blades inside and makes light work of soft fruit or veg (for harder vegetables I would advise boiling them first to soften). It has a capacity of the blender 1.5 litres which is more than enough for me and my girlfriend and I would imagine it would be big enough for a small family.
The blender is made of hard plastic with a white base, lid and handle. The jug itself is clear allowing you to see the contents inside. On the base is a control for the power. The control has two speeds. I personally do everything on spend two as if I want to blend something I might as well do it as quickly as possible.
A good feature the blender has is a safety interlock. The blender will not turn on unless the jug is properly secured to the base with the lid sealed down. This makes the blender safe and avoids any messy accidents.
On the lid is an oval is a see through circular opening. You can push this to open a gap to the blender. This allows you to add all sorts to your mix such as herbs or salt.
My only problem is the blender is that sometimes it will not blend everything in the jug. The rotating blade can push stuff to the top without cutting them. To prevents unwanted lumps I give the jug a shake halfway through the blend.
I have now had the blender for over a year and it still runs as well as when I first bought it. I highly recommend it as a cheap, reliable blender.
Summary: a great reliable blender
