This is probably our most useful kitchen gadget, I have a food processor and a blender and this by far gets used the most. We went away at the weekend self catering and myhusband actually took this with us!!! It is powerful but small and takes up no more room than a pint glass in the cupboard, very easy to clean or dishwash the blender end which unscrews from the power head easily. The large beaker it comes with is perfect for wizzing up a salad dressing or blending a nice sauce for pasta, curry etc. It is fast and leaves food smooth with no lumps. you made need to blend in batches if you were cooking a large meal. The build quality is suprisingly good for a low price item, very durable. The large plastic beaker has scratched with use BUT we use ours alot, not daily but certainly a couple of times a week and it gets put in the dishwasher. The power cord could be longer.
I have recently rediscovered my Braun multiquick blender at the back of the cupboard, and am finding it so useful that I had to share the joy! In fact, I can't believe I ever forgot about it as it's perfect for blending up small quantities of soup (for 2 or 3 people) and making breadcrumbs in seconds. This product is a handheld mixer. It comes in a narrow rectangular box which we still keep ours in although there is a wall bracket provided with it. The mixer is 300W which is fairly powerful and I certainly have not found myself needing more power. The mixer (as with all handheld mixers I've come across) has two parts- the top bit which plugs in and has the operating button on it, and the bottom part which twists easily into the top part which has the blades. The two parts fit really easily together and are also easily detached from each other which is essential for washing as the bottom part is dishwasher safe and can be fully submerged in water, whereas the top part should only be wiped. The appliance came with a calibrated beaker which is basically a transparent measuring beaker with an air tight lid. I don't use this because I usually just put the blender over whatever I'm making in the dish I'm making it in, but maybe it would be useful if you're a more precise cook than me. I have been really pleased with this product and think it's perfect for light use and smallish quantities of soups and breadcrumbs.
Much to my husbands horror I bought this after I'd bought an expensive kitchenaid blender, mixer and food processor! The problem with the kitchenaid trio was not their functionality, it was the cleaning.... The sheer effort of cleaning them after just a few minutes work was just too much for me! So I started looking for for something can could fulfil my blending needs without the massive cleaning requirements! This Braun multi quick really fit the bill. Small, light and very very easy to clean. All you need to do is detach the bottom half of the blender and pop it straight into the dishwasher. Perfect. It does come with a small cup for using directly with the blender but I normally just use a bowl to be honest. The blender basically works in 2 ways, press the button one for a 'pulse' or quick whizz or hold it down for content blending. It only has one rotating blade so you do need to hold it over whatever you are blending as it's surface area is quite small. However, it is powerful so you'll find by just moving it around the bowl of whatever you are blending in a circular motion it will pretty much blend anything to the level you require. When I bout it it cost me under £20 from Amazon. I use it pretty much every day. The kitchenaid equipment cost me nearly £1000 in total and I hardly ever use it! So you can see which has worked out the more useful and cost effective buy. If I had my time again I'd save my money and kitchen work surface area and just buy the Braun hand blender. It won't chop things like a food processor, but hey, there is always a knife!
I bought this blender as I had been given a £20 Debenhams voucher as an engagement present. Being strictly told by my partner that we had to buy something for both of us, and not just spends it on clothes, we bought this blender. It sounds like a boring choice for an engagement present but it is fantastic in the kitchen. I am a big fan of making home made soup as it is cheap and very healthy. My partner however, is very fussy and doesn't like vegetables at the best of times, never mind chunks of it in vegetable soup. This blender is the solution to our problem. It is small and doesn't take up a lot of room in our tiny kitchen. It is easy to use and smooths soups well with minimal fuss or effort. The detachable head makes this appliance very easy to use also. Just remember this is a blender and not a whisk! I made the mistake of trying to use this appliance to help make banana cake a failed miserably, doing little to boost my partner's faith in my cooking! **Sorry here are the specs instead of waffling on about my partner :)** The actual blender itself is hand held and is approximately 30cm in length. It has a detachable head which makes it easy to clean. The button at the top of the blender controls the speed. This button is rubber coated which makes it comfortable to hold whilst operating (you have to hold this button down to use the blender). The metal blade is not very big and is approximately 2-3 cms in length. The little holes around the base of the blender can be a little annoying if you are blending large things such as vegetables as sometimes they can get jammed in these when you are blending. A little tap against the bowl easily clears any jams though. The product is also very lightweight and easy to use.
