Overall a good blender, would recommend

This is a pretty decent product from Breville. Finished in brushed steel it fits in well with other steel appliances in the modern kitchen.

I paid about £60 for this almost 3 years ago and its still looking like new! A blender is just a blender but there are a few things for me that mark this one out as a very good purchase.

      Styling/Looks:
The brushed steel look is great, fits in brilliantly with other metallic appliances in the kitchen. The base of the jug is plastic but you dont notice a difference in the colouring between that and the brushed steel base.

      Build quality:
If you've read some of my other reviews then you;ll know i'm very keen on good quality products that feel solid and well made. This fits well into that category. The base is sold and pretty heavy, which is needed to keep the blender stable, it aso has four large rubber feet to help give further stability.
The main button/knob feels solid enough, not like some of the cheaper kitchen gadgets where you feel like its going to come off in your hand!
The jug itself is made of thick glass and is therefore pretty heavy as well. Whilst this makes it even heavier when full it does give me the impression that it will last a long time.
The lid is held on by a rubber seal with a hole in the centre where a measuring element slots in to allow you to either have a fully closed lid or to add further ingredients without taking the whole lid off.

      Useability
I've already referred to the fact that the jug is pretty heavy. You want to ensure the top of the jug is as dry as possible before putting the lid on to get the best seal. Whilst i have not had any issues with the lid i would have preferred some sort of clip as well as the rubber seal to hold the lid down.
The blender has 3 settings, with the highest one (setting 3) being capable of crushing ice. There is also a 'Pulse' button which, when compressed, blends for as long as you hold the button down.
There is quite a gap beneath the blades inside the jug, whilst this doesnt cause any of the ingredients to not blend properly it does make it difficult to clean properly as you have to get underneath the blades. I have put the jug in the dishwasher once or twice and its been fine but i am reluctant to do it alot due to the moving parts inside.

      Summary
All in all its a good blender. I've never had any issues with its ability to 'blend' things. It looks smart, its solid and not too noisy. The main downside is that its a pain to clean!
