I picked up this smoothie maker cheaply after our original one broke and we wanted one quickly but didn't really have the money to get a brand name one. I figured it might last us a couple of months at most and wasn't too hopeful. In actual fact we've had the smoothie maker for over a year now and it's had quite a lot of use in that time. It's fairly easy to use, you put it all together, shove some fruit, juice or whatever in the top and press the button. There are 2 speeds and a pulse button, nothing complicated. I must admit, I do like my gadgets, especially those that make my life a little easier in the kitchen. The Cookworks Smoothie Maker, was one of those 'Ooh that's sounds good' type of purchases, being basically a blender with sharp (and strong) enough blades to crush ice, I thought it would be more versatile than a bog-standard blender and at under £10 from Argos (at the time of purchase), it seemed to be worth a shot. The smoothie maker itself is very basic white/transparent in colour and looks just like a normal blender with a tap sticking out of the front. These days it seems that everyone who is into the latest fad has already fallen for the joys of a Kenwood Smoothie maker. Am I the last candidate to the party? I haven't bought one because I own a number of Kenwood food prep machines (mixer, blender, food processor) and all of them have the loudest motors. My heart was initially set on a glass blender (to combat noise as well as something which lasts and can take the rigours of blitzing anything) I was disappointed to find that Argos no longer sold the model concerned and that my best bet was to find the cheapest blender on sale.
