This is very good to have if you want to live a more healthier life style or if you want to lose weight. What I like to do is make fruit smoothies, I mix a variety of fruit together with yoghurt and honey and nuts, I put it all in the blender and and it blends all the ingrediance very well, it turns it into liquid and there is no pulp or bits, just a smooth and pulp free smothie. Its also great for making soups, I boil all my veggies in a pot and then I put them in the blender and the result is a lovely smooth soup. Its easy to use and is blends the food really fast and really well. I would recomend buying one of thes if you want to lose weight, or just be more healthy. Its also great for making deserts. I love this applience and the price is not to bad either.
A couple of weeks ago I started on the 2 day diet. And so I had a huge shopping list of all the things I wanted/needed. one of the essentials needed to stick to the diet is a blender! now looking in shops and online alot of good blenders are quite expensive but not worth the money. Kenwood is a brand that I have heard highly of from experiences from family and friends. so when i went on the search for a good blender kenwood was what i was searching for. I ended up going for this one! and I bought it from my Kay&Co catalogue for £55.00. The reason I wanted it was obviously to blend things like soups, smoothies and juice.
It came in great condition fully wrapped in a suitable box and with a years guarantee and an instruction booklet and all the pieces were wrapped in see through plastic individually. I never look at instructions which usually turns out not to be a good move but i didn't even need to look at the instructions to put this together as it really is so simple and straightforward to set up.
In My Opinion:
This blender is a great, light enough and a quiet enough food blender and im so happy that it wasnt too expensive and its still such a great buy!!!
It so simple to use, you can see what your doing through the see jug and it really is easy to care for and if you want to pack it into a cupboard and off the worktop once again it is suitable for that and really easy to do so. It is dishwasher safe as well though I hand wash mine and seriously if your after a blender this I couldn't recommend highly enough its just so fantastically built, easy to use and quiet and I wouldn't be without mine now!
I really do recommend this product for everyone looking for a suitable blender!!
~*~*~ Kenwood BL460 Blender ~*~*~
I decided to buy this blender about a year ago when I started Slimming World. I am extremely picky with food and I do not like many vegetables or fruits and this is mainly due to the textures. So I thought a blender would be a great idea of upping my fruit and veg intakes without having to physically chew them (I know I am sounding like a toddlers at the moment). It took me a while to decide to buy this blender as I go through phases of buying different gadgets (cross trainer, coffee machine, bread maker etc.) that I only use for a week before the novelty wears off and it is put in my loft never to be seen again. Anyway, I went ahead with my purchase of this blender, please see my thoughts below...
~*~*~ Product Design ~*~*~
This blender originally came in a cardboard box, contained in the box was the blender base, jug, lid and instruction manual. To assemble the blender is very easy, you simply twist the jug onto the blender base, place the items you wish to blend in the jug, pop the lid on and away you go.
The base of the blender is made from white plastic and the jug and lid are made from transparent plastic. The overall design of the product is very clear and simplistic. The jug holds 1.6 litres and there are measurement indicators on the front in millilitres (ml). On the front of the blender base is a control knob which controls the speed, of which there are three, and underneath the control knob is a push button which allows the user to make crushed ice.
The blender stands at 40.5 cm high and is 20 cm wide and 17.5 cm deep. The overall weight of the blender is 1.78kg and the motor is 600 watts.
~*~*~ Price and Availability ~*~*~
I purchased my blender from Ebay for around £30.00, which was a bargain.
This blender can be purchased from the following retailers:
Very - £45.00 (www.very.co.uk)
Littlewoods - £55.00 (www.littlewoods.co.uk)
John Lewis - £39.95 (www.johnlewis.co.uk)
(Price as of 06/09/2013, delivery charges may apply)
~*~*~ In Use ~*~*~
As mentioned above, I get bored of gadgets very easily, but for once this is a gadget I can't live without. I am so pleased with this blender, it does exactly what I want it to do and the crushed ice feature is fantastic. I simply chop up my fruit or veg, chuck it in the blender and within seconds its puréed. This blender is very easy to put together, use and clean. The jug and lid are dishwasher friendly, and I use a damp cloth to clean the base.
My favourite things to make with this blender are soups, smoothies and milkshakes (obviously the milkshake is when I want a naughty treat). There is hardly no effort required when using this blender and it is so much easier than trying to purée by hand. The great thing about this blender is since I have purchased it I have lost so much weight and feel much healthier. The ladies at my Slimming World want to know my secret to weight loss, but I'm not telling them (So keep this just between us ;)).
This machine is not only great for people wanting to lose weight but also for trying to get children to have more nutrients in their diets. My cousin, who is 2, will not eat fruit but he will always have one of Sarah's smoothies.
~*~*~ Would I Recommend? ~*~*~
Yes, I would definitely recommend this blender. It is easy to use and easy to clean. I have tried so many different foods that I never thought I would try and I have become a lot healthier in the process. I think every home should have a blender. If you haven't got one than you don't know what your missing. This can be purchased for around £40.00, which is a very reasonable price when it comes to blenders. Overall I am going to give this blender 5 out of 5 dooyoo stars.
Thank you for taking the time to read my review :o)
Kenwood is a brand that I have come to really like over the past couple of years which is why when I wanted a blender I opted for this one and I bought it from my Kay&Co catalogue for £55.00. The reason I wanted it was obviously to blend things like soups, cocktails and juices and smoothies and the likes and seeing as all my other electricals were white this seemed a good option for me and after researching blenders I didn't think this was too pricey either.
It came in a box of course and with a years guarantee and an instruction booklet and all the pieces were wrapped in see through plastic individually. I have to admit that I didn't even have to look at the instructions to put this together as it really is so simple and straightforward as is using it.
The unit itself is very nice and streamlined to look at with a rather long power cable to the back of it. The base where the motor is housed is white and smooth plastic and on that is an easy to turn grey coloured knob, the same as the base is and it has little black rubberised pieces to help the thing stay put! The knob gives us 3 speed options and a pulsate option plus you can turn the unit to off and under that there is a sort of integrated button which activates the ice crushing opinion and you just have to keep your finger on that whilst its in use till you get your ice crushed to how you like it.
The jug section (goblet) firmly twists on and off and has measurements on that and it has an overall capacity of 1.6 litres and a nice sturdy handle is to one side of it. Its easy to get on and off and even to wash up and of course the blade sits under that, that blends everything up for you. To the top of the jug once again there is a white plastic lid that fits very well on there with no wobble at all and a see through plastic round that is easy to pull off and to feed things through whilst using it.
This is a great, light enough and a quiet enough food blender and I actually though I probably wouldn't get a lot of use from this one but how wrong was I?! I use this almost daily!
Not only can I blend up cooked foods but raw too and that includes potatoes and a whole variety of harder foods. I have used mine to make up weight-loss shakes, cocktails and I can make a mean smoothie in this and its so easy to get crushed ice from it as well instead of having to use chunks which means I can make slush drinks! Really there is so much you can make in here!
It so simple to use, you can see what your doing through the see through jug and it really is easy to care for and if you want to pack it into a cupboard and off the worktop once again it is suitable for that and really easy to do so. It is dishwasher safe as well though I hand wash mine and seriously if your after a blender this I couldn't recommend highly enough its just so fantastically built, easy to use and quiet and I wouldn't be without mine now!
Google if interested or go to Kay&co.com which is where I got mine from!
