Advantages: Easy to use, safe to use, works well, efficient
Disadvantages: None other than the initial payment!
We had been discussing getting a blender in our house for some time. I had seen the amazing cocktails that you could make in them but that was not the sole reason for me wanting to get one, I wanted to make some homemade sauces as well as making my own soups, I really enjoy cooking but standing over the cooker makes meals longer than they need be if I had the right appliance and the blender was one that I really wanted. I did a little bit of shopping around and about five months ago now I purchased the Kenwood BL465 blender and here are my thoughts on the product.
We brought the Blender from Amazon and it cost us £46.00. I had budgeted at around this price and I found that it was a good price to pay after shopping around. In the high street retailers it was costing around over the £50.00 mark. The blender was quite easily available though and if we hadn't have had Amazon we could have picked one up from the high street. I think the Kenwood brand is quite a good brand and we have had a slow cooker from them and been pleased.
The Kenwood blender came in a cardboard box with a large picture of the blender on the front. Once we had opened the blender there was not too much to do before we could begin using it. There is an instruction booklet that comes with the blender as well as a one year manufacturer's guarantee at the back. The blender has a capacity of 2 litres and has a power supply of 600 watts.
The blender is a silver colour and looks quite stylish on the work top. The jug that works with the blender is clear so you can see all of the ingredients going into it. The blender has three operating speeds and it has stainless steel blades. I must point out at this stage that the blender is very safe to use. You only really come into contact with the blades when cleaning it and even this is not really a problem as long as you are sensible. The blender is also ok to put in the dishwasher.
The blender as I mentioned has 3 speeds and dependant on what you are putting in it, the better certain speeds will work. When we first had the blender I had a go at making some soup. It was lovely just having to throw in some loosely chopped vegetable in as opposed to really having to dice them, as soon as you add the liquid and gave the soup a really good blend; you have perfect homemade soup!
The blender is really efficient, it has three speeds that work it and I found that the slow speed was great when there was a lot of liquid involved and the really chunky ingredients whilst the fast speeds were great for cocktail making. The blender is a little noisy when it is on but that is to be expected. I liked that it was efficient so you only needed to put the food in there for a short amount of time because it really would blend it very quickly.
If you have been thinking about buying a blender then I can strongly recommend this one as it is really good at everything I have asked it to do. It tackles all of the ingredients really well and does it in a really efficient way. The speed settings, you soon learn to judge which is the one that is best for you. The blender sits well on the work surface and it is not too bulky either.
This is a 4 out of 5 from me
Thank you for reading
Summary: A great, efficient blender
