Advantages: Fun
Disadvantages: Noisy
My girlfriend's mum bought us the Kenwood for Christmas in an attempt to make us start eating more fruit. On Christmas night we used it for the first time and what came out was absolutely disgusting - even the sink wouldn't drink it! Probably not surprising though as we just threw everything out of the fridge in and gave it a spin.
A couple of days later we bought some things so that we could make up some of the recipies in the book that comes with the machine - but all we liked were the ones with the ice-cream. So much for a healthy drink!
When you turn on the smoothie maker you want to run away - why it has to be so noisy is beyond me, its only a glorified belnder.
The best bit is the tap on the front, although I was a bit dubious as to whether to trust the seals or not on something which is just a plastic bung in a hole.
The Smoothie Maker is easy to clean although disappointingly, it isn't dishwasher safe and you have to clean it after every smoothie. This puts you off making them a bit and we haven't used ours much since Christmas.
Although the novelty has wore off the Smoothie Maker looks great in the corner of our kitchen - that is until you get close up and realise that its actually made out of some really cheap plastic and not stainless steel as it looks from a distance. I don't suppose it would be around £30 though if it were stainless steel.
