I love this product. I used to to blend my daughters food when she was a baby and use it regularly for soup.
It's pretty big so can hold large volumes.
I bought this blender approximately 5 years ago when it was time to start weaning my son. I already owned the kitchenaid mixer and was extremely happy with this purchase. Although it was expensive I chose the kitchenaid blender in order to co-ordinate with the mixer. Although not as perfect as the kitchenaid mixer it is still another timeless piece of equipment from what I consider to be a fantastic brand.
The kitchenaid mixer is available in a number of different colours. It has a sturdy heavy bottom, a thick glass jug and a rubber top. It also has a hole in the top, which is covered by a cap, to add extra ingredients while mixing. It has 5 different blending settings, ranging from crushing ice to creating purees. You are also able to stop start and pulse the blending very easily.
I have used the blender for lots of different reasons. Making soup, crushing ice for drinks, and making curry sauces. It has been invaluable when making baby foods for both my sons.
It is easy to use however, I have one complaint with it. As the blade is at the bottom a lot of mixture gets stuck at the bottom and you have to often stop and start and shake the mixture to have it all blended. However, this problem can be overcome if you don't fill it too much. It is only a problem with dry items as wet items, such as ingredients for soup blend easily.
It costs over £150 however, again I believe it is worth it. I have owned it for 5 years and it shows no signs of aging!
We bought this with our wedding vouchers as we wanted a sturdy blender, capable of producing smoothies and baby food!
It didnt disappoint as its very hard wearing and has the added bonus of looking great in a retro chic kind of way.
Available in a variety of colours, we were torn between red and cream, but eventually went for the latter.
The glass jug is thick and strong but it is also heavy and can be difficult to hold when full.
Its blades are very strong and it has no problem whizzing through frozen ice which has been the end of some other blenders ive owned in the past.
The only disadvantage to this blender is that the lid is rubber and if you dont dry it straight away after washing it can become a bit smelly and mouldy. The same happens to the underside of the unit.
Apart from that its the best blender ive ever had and is well worth the higher than average price tag.
We got our KitchenAid blender as a wedding gift last year. It looks great and is really good quality. My favourite part (apart from the cool retro style) is the thick quality glass jug. Its easy to keep clean as you can undo the bottom and get in to clean the blades, but you can't actually take the whole thing apart which is slightly annoying. Its better than the cheap blenders i've had before though that your couldn't take apart even a little bit.
The problem i would say is that in recent months the conection between the jug and the base has become a little loose which is making it alot noisier than it used to be. I don't know if this is something i have done wrong, but i am a little dissapointed with this aspect as it is now very noisy.
However over all i am very happy with the product.
