This blender is a thing of beauty and a joy forever. The retro design will look good in any kitchen, and it's a sturdy well-designed machine that will last for decades.
It has one flaw. The jug sits on a cog and that cog, as I recently found, can disconcertingly shatter into a million pieces while the blender is in action. It's a known issue, and easy to fix (a replacement can be sourced from ebay and there are youtube videos to show you how to attach it). It's a bit of a shock. But don't let it put you off.
I love my blender. I've used it for such a wide range of things. The blender does cost more than some others on the market but you get what you pay for. Other blenders I have had in the past have not been ad durable or as good quality.
I opted for the grey as my sensible husband steered me away from a fun colour 'in case we ever changed kitchens!' The grey is a nice silvery gun metal grey so has a nice glittery shine to it.
The actual glass blender jug is quite heavy to lift when empty or full, so people with weak wrists may struggle. It can hold a large amount. It has a measure on the glass for quantity. The glass is very thick an sturdy. I have dropped mine on the kitchen floor (Lino) and it survived.
It has several different functions for different types of blending or mixing. These vary the speed of the blender and I tend to use them all intermittently and don't worry too much about what each setting was intended for! It has a pulse function which can be helpful, which pauses the blend.
The blender is simple to use and self explanatory.
Sometimes if you only have a small amount of mixture or food in it, it can get a little stuck under the blade but I think this is the case with all blenders.
Unfortunately I broke a part of the blender, the rubber cog that helps turn the unit round. This was my own fault as I put a spoon in to release some mixture and it hit the blade. The replacement part was easy to get hold of but quite pricey.
I have had the blender for 10 years now and I would never buy another make. It looks as good as new.
I've had this blender for about two years now and it has never missed a beat in the 100's of times i have used it.
I've used it nearly everyday for soups, smoothies, milkshakes etc, it really is a perfect little blender, easy to use, easy to wash easy to put back together after washing and blitzes through anything i've thrown in it.
I've tried other blenders in the past but none have been anywhere near as good as the KitchenAid
The thick 1.25 litre glass jug is very durable, of decent size and is easy to clean, the base is really stylish, sleek, heavy and very chunky and also has easy clean buttons you can just simply wipe off
The blender has 10 settings all of them used on a regular basis
Once you use the KitchenAid blender you will never go back to a run of the mill plastic blender
