Advantages: Blends food fast with minimum effort & comes with handy extras

Disadvantages: none

I recently was given a blender by family because I wanted to start feeding my daughter puréed food, it was one they had stuck in their cupboard and no longer used, after about a week of trying to make food with the blender I gave up, as I was only making small portions the blender just would not puree the food properly & it was taking me ages just to make a couple of meals so I decided to invest in a hand blender.

I had a look on one of the catalogue websites and saw that they where doing a promotion of buy now and pay in July 2010 so I took a look at what blenders they had in stock and the Morphy Richards Latitude Blender set caught my eye, after reading what came with it and the spec etc I decided to purchase it.

Whats in the box?
As well and the hand blender itself you also get the following: Stainless steel blades, stainless steel leg, whisk and whisk attachment, mini chopper bowl, chopper blade, plastic measuring beaker with lid and a wall mounting set. You also get instructions a guarantee and recipe book.

The blender:
The blender itself has a black rubber handle with a black glossy plastic body, the top of the blender is chrome (this is also the speed dial), it has eight speeds and you just turn the top to select which speed you require, the on/off button is located on the rubber handle (has a chrome surround) this also has a turbo button underneath it for those items that are slightly harder to blend.

There is a button at the bottom of the blender which releases whichever attachment you have on the blender at the time, just press the button and the attachment comes off and just push the new attachment into place (you will hear a click sound, then you know it on properly).

The blender has 500w of power and as I mentioned before also has a turbo button (which you can use with any speed) so it has more than enough power to blend or chop pretty much anything. The blender will not work if you tip it upside down, it has some sort of safety cut off so will only work when pointing down.

Cleaning:
It is recommended that the whisk gearbox and chopping bowl lid are wiped over with a warm soapy cloth (Do not immerse these parts in water). Also clean the main housing with a damp cloth and dry all parts well (again do not put in water). As for all the other bits (whisk, blender leg, beaker, chopping bowl etc) I wash in hot soapy water, I can't say if they are dishwasher safe or not as it does not give me this information anywhere (I even looked on there website).

Is it any good?
Well I am so pleased that I purchased this blender, I knew that as it was a Morphy Richards it was going to be good quality but I never expected it to be so good. It used to take me a couple of house to make all of my little girl's foods for the week now I can do it half that time (takes about 5 seconds to blend 400g of carrots). I find that it turns all the food into a nice lump free puree with very minimal effort (because it's got a nice weight to it you don't have to force it into the food).

I also love that you get so many attachments' with this blender so I not only use it for the baby food I can also use it to whisk and chop everyday food and with the handy wall mounting bracket it also takes up very little room.

This blender cost me £49 from Marshall Ward and it was well worth the money, it's a good quality sturdy blender with every attachment you could need. You also get a two year guarantee with the product which you can extend to five years if you register it within 28 days of purchase.

Summary: An excellent blender with lots of extras and at a very good price
