“ Brand: Moulinex / Power: 300 Watts / Large 700ml litre graduated measuring jug with pouring spout „
I received this as a gift from my sister when I moved away from home a couple of years ago. It is great for making soup, smoothies and home-made ice-cream - basically, everything that needs a decent blender.
Looks: it is white down to the part just beyond where it comes apart. Buttons are grey; one is the button that makes it blend, while the other clicks down and causes the blender to split in two for cleaning and storage. There's no danger of pressing this accidentally while blending.
Features: It comes with a wall holder, for those short of cupboard space.
There are two speed settings, which makes it more versatile. The two different speeds are achieved by pushing the button lightly or with more pressure, which means it's quite difficult sometimes to be sure what speed you're using. There also doesn't seem to be a massive amount of difference between the two speeds.
The 700ml cup has an indent to make pouring easier, and the foot detaches (about halfway up) which makes cleaning very simple. The detachable part is dishwasher-safe.
The verdict: this is a great little blender. I make smoothies and soup with it regularly, and it also helps when making icecream using fruit. If I didn't have one already I would definitely pay the £25 Amazon are charging for it, because I use it a great deal and so far it has been extremely reliable. I manages large chunks quite well, and seems to blend things fairly quickly, too, which is good if you want a quick smoothie or something.
Another thing if you have easily-annoyed neighbours is that it's not too noisy!
I would thoroughly recommend it for anyone who frequenty makes soup, sauces or smoothies regularly.
I bought the Moulinex hand blender when I started weaning my son. I was determined to make all his meals from scratch to ensure I knew what went in them. I started using a large freestanding food blender, but soon got fed up of taking it apart to clean after each use. Cooking lots of different meals to freeze is a big enough job as it is, without the added annoyance of washing up lots of bits.
-Detachable foot-makes cleaning extremely easy, it is also dishwasher safe.
-Shaped to fit perfectly in your hand-making it safe.
-Comes with wall holder to save cupboard space.
-700ml spouted jug.
I bought it for £20 on sale in Tesco, however I haven't seen it in my local store for a while. You can buy it on Amazon for £24.99.
I no longer use the hand blender for making pureés as my son is now eating proper food. I do however use it a couple of times a week to make smoothies. It literally takes seconds to blend things to a smooth texture and after a quick rinse its clean and ready to put away.
I would definitely recommend this product to any parent starting on the road of weaning. Batch cooking can be a tedious job, but having a blender that is so easy to clean makes it a whole lot easier.
I have used it at least twice a week for the last 5 months and it is still going strong, so at the price I bought it at, it was an absolute bargain.
