Advantages: cheap, tiny, great grinder

I saw this very small mill plus liquidizer/blender at an Asian friend's home and immediately decided that I wanted this little wizard in my not so spacious kitchen. I have had this gadget for almost a year now and I think I have had enough use out of it to consider writing about it.


I bought one off an online shop .. can't remember which one as I had it from one that had it at the least price and free delivery thrown in it cost me something like a £19 give or take. This blender is available in Debenhams stores and various online shops of which Amazon being one of the most popular and reliable( whoohoo you can put those dooyou miles into use if you want). Amazon has it for a £24 T present .


The appliance when it came was in a nice strong pack and consisted of a 300 Watt motor base(not very strong I had thought then only to be proved wrong later), a one liter liquidizer jar , a small mill attachment and an instruction manual.

The base unit is white with a large with a big yellow button. There is option for pressing this button on a single speed run or on pulse mode (pulse mode comes particularly useful when making ice-lollies). There is a 3.5mts cord attachment which is again white and sufficiently long in my tiny kitchen .Tiny rubber legs grips the appliance in position. The base is extremely compact...this compactness is what had attracted me to the appliance in the first place. When in use the motor does make a loud blending/grinding sound but this is nothing louder than what most posh appliances in the market would make.
The liquidizer jar and the mill sit locked very well when clicked in place.


The liquidizer jar which is of clear plastic has a capacity of a liter and a bit and the top is extended into a pout to facilitate pouring . The lid to this is white and easy to screw on. At the centre of the lid is a small cup like structure that can be pulled out and water/liquid can be poured in even while the blender is at work.
The four-pronged blade is fixed hence it is difficult to hand clean in my opinion and I can't really recall but I think it is dishwsher safe(don't have a dishwasher so wouldn't be able to say) .

I have made several things with this( minty lemonade, lollies, mashing up for soups etc) and it always works brilliantly if there is some liquid in it . I have to admit though you can't blend baby-amounts in this .

The little mill has a steel inner body and though at a first glance the two pronged non-removable blade looks flimsy it is a brilliant work horse .I have gone so far as to grind coffee beans in it too.This was a mistake though as the clear lid has become a bit cloudy and opaque. It is brilliant for grinding things as much as a half teaspoon to about 100gms or so and supports both dry and wet grind which is exceptional in a machine of such low price.
This little grinder is easy to clean and dries quickly. The lid is dome shaped giving the stuff being ground some more space to fly/shuffle around. Grinding up dry whole spices or wet ginger-garlic for curries takes a matter of seconds these days, nothing could be easier than this.

According to the manufacturers instructions neither jars should be filled over a 3/4th of its capacity for proper working.

You have to have the lids firmly clicked on otherwise the safety lock feature won't let the motor run, which is a plus point in my opinion.

The instruction manual like most manuals tells you the dos and don'ts and the setting up bit . The instructions are easy to follow and is short and precise. There are a few exemplary recipes in it too.

Prior to writing this review I had a look around and have discovered that spare parts for this blender are easily available online and are reasonably priced. Though at such a small price I thing if my blender breaks down I will replace it with another optiblend 2000 again.

This is one fabulous compact down to the earth blender that is easy on the pocket , on power consumption and on space in the kitchen . I have had a full one years very reliable service from it and would recommend it to anyone who is looking for such a device and on tight a budget.
