“ Brand: Philips / Work Top Blender / 5 Speed / 67.63 oz. / with Pulse Feature „
My mother-in-law is a firm-believer in the cures of Ayurveda and so is always preparing some home remedies or the other for her own ailments and unfortunately for us as well!! Some months ago, the blade of our last blender snapped while she was grinding some particularly dry turmeric sticks. And since she is always grinding such things we decided to look for a sturdier blender this time that can easily grind hard things as well. So that was our main criteria for selecting a blender - a strong blade coupled with a powerful motor.
We went to the usual stores and looked at different models inspecting the blades and decided that Philips would be a good choice. Coming back home we went online to see if we could get a Philips blender at a good price.
On www.cookinstyle.co.uk we found a really hot deal for this blender at half price. We purchased it for £24.99 plus £5.95 delivery charge. It was delivered two days later and my mother started using it. That was in August. My mother has since used it for two and half months and feels that it is perfect for her purpose.
The unit has a neat design - its flat back makes it easier to stack it on the shelf as it lines up easily with the other items. The motor noise is low and it stands firmly on the kitchen top on four suction cups.
The motor is also really powerful and grinds effortlessly. And of course it has a sturdy four-point blade. The blade is detachable making it easy to clean both the blade and the jug. A detachable blade also means that it is easier to wipe off the spills and powders from motor unit as well.
It takes some practise to get used to fixing and detaching the mill from the motor - it has a knack to it and if you are patient the first few times you will learn it quickly. I think it is a clever system although I have read many reviews of other users who find it cumbersome. Sometimes after running the motor the mill can get jammed and takes a strong arm to unlock it.
The pulsing feature is very useful too. It has an ice crusher feature that we have not used yet. The jugs are of good quality strong plastic as one would expect from a brand like Philips.
However the plastic on the inside of our blender has already developed a ring of abrasions just below the mouth of the jug. I might write to Philips about it!
Overall we are happy with our purchase and have been recommending it to our circles.
A note to add here - we feel that it is a great buy at the price that we got it at, £31 and may be upto £40. At the full price of £50 we feel it is quite overpriced.
