Bliss Poutrageous Lip Plumping Gel
by clara29
I don't have particularly thin lips but being a bit obsessed with the bee stung lips look and far too scared and poor to resort to surgery, I thought I would try this after reading a review that it was the best of the plumping gels tested in a magazine article.
The first thing I noticed was its got an absolutely gorgeous scent and ... taste - like coconut vanilla mmm!
On application, it plumps up lips nicely within about 30 seconds of applying. You feel a tingling senstation but its not painful just a sting.
You can wear it on its own or over lipstick but be aware that its not a gloopy gloss, its a quite thin consistency, so it comes off quite quickly and will probably take your lippy off with it.
The effect also doesn't last that long - maybe an hour tops.
The worst thing about it is you need to apply this sparingly and be careful not to go outside the lip line as it will leave with with red skin. It looks like you have had some sort of bite or allergy - nasty.
My verdict:
The best? Well no... Its not bad but I have used Transformulas Lip volume before and I think thats fantastic, with no funny reactions outside the lip line.
I think the best thing about it is its smell and taste.
If you are interested, it costs around £16 from Selfridges Bliss counter, (but prob cheaper on the net) which is expensive for what it is. Im glad I tried it but wont be buying it again. Read the complete review |

Bliss Lemon + Sage Body Butter
by beauty88
I got this in a sample size from the Bliss counter at Selfridges. I had never tried Bliss products before but had heard of them and to be honest I had never been too keen as they are so expensive yet don't look particularly expensive on the counter. For a 240ml bottle of this you pay £23 which for body lotion is really expensive! ...
Bliss describe it as their best selling body lotion for 10 years and it claims to nourish skin without leaving it greasy and lock in moisture leaving skin supple all day. It also says it will get rid of rough or dry skin after one application.
***Packaging***
The packaging is eye catching and definitely different particularly because you normally find a Bliss counter amongst more classic packaging like that of Dior or Chanel. To me the packaging has always looked quite cheap and its only when you realise it is an expensive brand that it starts to seem better. This body butter comes in a normal shape squeezy bottle with the lid at the bottom. It is a bright mid blue bottle with "lemon and sage" in yellow writing and "body butter" in bigger writing beneath it. The Bliss logo is also at the top of the bottle. Beneath the writing there is a cartoon style picture of a lemon. The bottle is fun but it just doesn't look great quality. I'm not saying that designer packaging has to be classic and boring, but this just looks cheap. Anyway...
***The Body Butter***
The body butter is a cream colour and the smell is as I imagined. To be honest I wasn't to keen on the sound of 'lemon and sage' but it is actually really pleasant and smells more like just lemon. It actually does smell of real lemons as well, rather than an artificial smell. I was also worried that the smell would be overpowering which it often is with expensive brands, however it really is quite subtle, yet no so subtle you can barely smell it. The fragrance lasts on your skin for a few hours which is nice.
Even though it is described as body 'butter' I was still surprised at how thick it was. It came out of the bottle quite easily and didn't look too thick, however when I came to rub it in I struggled quite a bit to spread it over my skin as it is so thick. Because of the thickness I couldn't spend as long as I normally would massaging it in as it just didn't slide over the skin like body lotions do. It also meant I had to use more than I normally would but I would still say the thick texture of it is a good quality as it really soothes the skin and leaves it feeling intensely moisturised.
It leaves the skin feeling really supple like it said and I have definitely noticed that this lasts for a long time after it has been applied. I have been applying it after I have a bath in the evening and my skin still feels really hydrated all through the next day. It does feel slightly greasy on the skin to begin with but not sticky at all.
My skin isn't particularly dry so I don't think I need such an intense moisturising cream but I can imagine it would be ideal for anyone with very dry skin.
***Overall Opinion***
I think this would be really good for people who have a problem with very dry skin and it would be good during the winter months, but I don't think my skin really needs although it was a nice treat for my skin. The smell is lovely and it does do what it says it will, yet I still think £23 is way too much for a body lotion. Read the complete review |

Bliss Vanilla + Bergamont Bubbling Bath & Shower Gel
by glitter_princess
To me, vanilla is one of the most gorgeous scents on the planet and generally any vanilla scented product is going to be a hit with me! So I was confident when I bought Bliss's Vanilla and Bergamot Shower Gel and Bubbling Bath that it would meet with my seal of approval.
The Bliss range was developed back in 1996 by scarily ... young looking 40 year old Marcia Kilgore (who more recently has brought us the Soap and Glory range) and are generally regarded amongst those in the know as high quality, must have products. They're certainly not cheap (a full size bottle of this will cost you £16 for 250ml), so definitely ones to be saved for when you feel like you need a little extra bit of pampering.
The vanilla & Bergamot Shower gel/Bubble Bath is packaged in a bright blue bottle with a cleverly designed lip that pops up at an angle to reveal a small hole. I like this design as it reduces the possibility of wastage - a key factor when something is as expensive as this! However, as I've said before, I find it difficult to get excited about the packaging of Bliss products as I think for the extortionate price tag, they generally look a bit cheap!
As a shower gel it's great - you pour just the tiniest bit into your hand and you can feel just how creamy and luxurious it is. The liquid is a pale golden colour and has a slight pearlescent sheen to it, but far and away the best thing about it is the smell! The vanilla is lovely and strong and the bergamot compliments it perfectly, giving a deep but very feminine scent that lingers on the body well for a good few hours after you've used it - I love getting a slight waft of vanilla every now and again throughout the day. You don't need to use very much - just a small amount is enough to cover your whole body. There's not much of a lather, but I find that the more non-lathering shower gels are generally far more moisturising on the skin than ones that produce masses of bubbles and this is certainly the case here. When you step out of the shower your skin feels lovely and moisturised and you could really do away with your moisturiser. It contains almond oil and aloe vera to moisturise and soothe the skin, reducing any redness or irritation, and is packed with antioxidants to keep skin looking firm and young.
As a bath oil it is just as successful but fails to really live up to the promise of its name: it definitely does not produce lots of bubbles. The bubbles it does produce are really small, not at all like the massive ones you get with a Radox bath, and it doesn't produce many of them. However, the smell is just as fantastic and doesn't disappear like so many vanilla scented products do when added to a bath (Lush's Vanilla Fountain - I'm looking at you!) As a bath oil it is even more moisturising than as a shower gel and the smell clings to the skin even better too.
So many of my products are vanilla and bergamot scented too that this works well in partnership with them, not creating two smells fighting with each other. It works especially well with Lush's Soft Coeur massage bar to bring out the vanilla, and Soap & Glory's Righteous Butter to bring out the bergamot. I've also used this with Bliss's Vanilla & Bergamot Body Buff and the combination is fantastic, combining to give a lovely strong vanilla scent.
So let's cut to the chase - not many of us are going to fork out £16 on a shower gel / bubble bath in these credit crunched times! Let's face it, there are some great (and far more reasonably priced) shower gels from Lush that very nearly give this a run for it's money, but in all honesty, I've not found a vanilla scented product that quite compares to the smell of this range which really is divine. It's such a lovely product that, although I probably wouldn't buy it again for myself, it's the kind of thing that would make a lovely present for someone who really deserves a bit of a pampering and one that I'm sure would be well received.
