Advantages: Leaves the skin soft and smooth
Disadvantages: Not that easily available in store
I have just come back from a wonderful weekend away in London with the better half. Selfridges was amongst one of the stores that I just had to visit, yes not as glamorous as Harrods but certainly better on the bank balance! I'm a fan of Bliss products which are readily available on the internet but no so easily obtainable in stores. However, Selfridges stock Bliss and I couldn't wait to get myself to their counter!
After sampling various products I had made my choice and one of them was the Blood Orange & White Pepper sugar scrub. I have moaned before that there are not enough sugar scrubs available so this was a nice surprise!
*~*~* The Packaging *~*~*
The sugar scrub comes in a heavy clear plastic jar with a white screw top and white, orange and blue label round the front which in a clear type font explains what the item is. All the usual blurb is of course on the back of the jar. The jar is quite hefty but you are able to see the contents inside which is good.
*~*~* The Item *~*~*
Well it is a sugar scrub quite simply! Instead of the usual scrubs which most of the time use sand (or grit as I call it!), Bliss have opted for sugar which tends to be less abrasive and kinder on the skin. It is used to exfoliate, care and condition the skin by removing any dead skin cells and leaving behind a polished surface! The item colour is wonderful, a real rich, dark peach which then goes to a pale peach once on the skin and mixed with water.
*~*~* Ingredients *~*~*
Orange Fruit Extract: Contain vitamin C, B complex, bioflavenoids, potassium, zinc, phosphorus, as well as natural sugars.
Pepper Extract: Stimulates circulation. Used topically as a counter-irritant, which means it can cause significant skin irritation
Ginger Extracts: Improves microcirculation and moisturisation.
Wheatgrass Extracts: Soothes.
*~*~* Scent *~*~*
The scent is one which is hard to define purely because there are quite a few strong, dominant characters in this scrub. You can clearly make out the scent of pepper which is spiced up with the coriander but then you get a sweeter, even more acidic scent of the citrus which ensures all the fragrances sit well together. Overall, a spicy, energising scrub which is sure to awaken those senses!
*~*~* Weight & Price *~*~*
In Selfridges I ended up paying about £28.00 for a 330g jar. Now I know that seems expensive and I moan about Molton Brown being overly priced but after reading reviews about this item before I went to London it sounded fantastic so I had to give it a go!
*~*~* What Bliss Say *~*~*
Bliss Blood Orange & White Pepper Body Scrub is bursting with an energising citrus scent with spicy white pepper top notes and nuances of coriander and white musk. This delicious skin-cleansing scrub lathers up for a gentle but supreme suds-ing for smooth, soft skin.
*~*~* My Opinion *~*~*
I love this! Since London I have used to 3 times which for the price I should really watch how much of it I am using! The scrub is simple to use, apply to damp skin and massage in either with your hand or ideally a sponge with the exfoliator on. The sugar as I said is far more gentle so you don't feel like your ripping your skin to shreds! The end result....superbly soft skin! I couldn't get over how soft my skin was and the fact that it has remained soft and smooth has amazed me. The wonderful spicy/ citrusy scent becomes far more subtle once the scrub is washed off but is pleasant to smell all day!
The only downside to Bliss products (including this one) is that even though they are readily available online (which is easy), if you want to sample them before hand it can get quite difficult, the best place I know of is Selfridges but only certain stores have a Bliss counter so you may want to check that out before you make the trip!
Summary: Fantastic!
