When you think of placing two comedy actors in a film and it being hilarious the first names who leap to mind would not be Mark Wahlberg and Will Ferrell but maybe that is why when the film is called The Other Guys they really do seem perfect in the roles for this film.
The film sees two NYPD misfit detectives who are used to missing out on the limelight and adoration of their public and instead being the detectives working hard in the offices who are ensuring accurate paperwork records are kept so the guys out on the streets can do their jobs without needing to worry about this side of the job but when the cops they idolize (much like everyone else does) leap to their deaths during a pursuit we see Detective Hoitz (played brilliantly by Mark Wahlberg) get the itch to get out there and be known for just how good he is at his job and so when working on a scaffold permit violation with his partner Detective Gamble (with a fantastic performance from Will Ferrell) they uncover something much bigger the pair must become more like those cops they idolize and really push the boundaries.
The film is a really brilliant comedy that has plenty of hilarious moments throughout and thanks to the simply brilliant performances by all of the cast including Eva Mendes, Michael Keaton, Damon Wayans Jr and more the film really does stand above the other cop comedies out there. For me this is great film I highly recommend.
