This is a wonderful family film that I can highly recommend. Set in Scotland, during World War II, this is a beautifully filmed story. It starts with a Scottish man (actor Brian Cox) in his sixties, who enthralls a young couple of tourists with the story of a young boy, Angus. The story is being told in the current day and harks back to the Second World War and is set in the same coastal location. The film transports back to the 1940s and we find Angus (played by the fantastic Alex Etal) is on the beach and discovers a strange, but fascinating, egg shaped object which he takes home in his small bucket.
