Advantages: Fun, original and quirky

Disadvantages: Not amazing acting

I am not going to go into too much details of the film itself as I hate spoilers and feel this film is one to watch not knowing much about it.

The story follows some young journalists making a documentary on bear killing is the Norwegian forests end up getting involved with a troll hunter.

The film sounds odd but actually works pretty well. I enjoy foreign films and felt this has a certain oddness about it that makes it truly enjoyable, something that Holywood fails to achieve. The unknown actors do well and whilst their performances are not oscar worthy, they feel fairly believable, especially Otto Jespersen who plays the troll hunter.

The special effects are surprisingly good, with the trolls looking fantastic. I feel the effects looks better ass the film is shot in the same style as Blair Witch and Cloverfield. Whilst I generally enjoy films shot like this I feel some times during Troll Hunter it can go a bit overboard and can be difficult to see exactly what's happening (just like Chronicle)

I bought it on BluRay for £11 on day of release which is a pretty decent price. I feel the film is well worth the money. I have not watched any extras yet but there is nothing that looks particularly outstanding in that respect.

I have heard that there is going to be an American re-make which I am fairly sure I will be disappointed with. This is a Norweigen film and should be left at that, a remake will destroy the quirky, low budget, enjoyable nature of the movie.

Summary: Must see at least once
