Where do you start? Simple set-up. Found my Network without any input from me. Just needed to enter the Password. Great Picture and sound. Connected the Optical Out Cable directly to the AV Receiver, but can't figure out where to connect the 7.1 analogue cables to my Denon 3802? Don't know why you would need Analogue as the Optical drive is great, but I'm sure an Audiophile can put me straight? If you want the best 3D experience of your life (at Home) then buy the Samsung 63" Plasma Model: PS63C700, and this DVD Player and you will want to live forever just to keep enjoying the experiences. No humming from the TV as reported by others. Just a great combination and a great joy to watch and listen And this is just the beginning. In a few years, if not sooner, there will "heaps" of 3D products, but the FUTURE IS NOW, and OK. Anyway, at the least, don't forget to chance your set-up from "Store Demo" to "Home Viewing", otherwise your pixels will run out of gas in no time, not to mention that the Brightness will probably blind you in the Medium to Long Term.You get one free Glasses after you register the TV.
This is a great product indeed has everything you need and literally brings a cinema to your home with this I would recommend a LG 55" Inch TV and then just sit back with a cold beverage and relax and enjoy your movie.
The Samsung BD-C6900 it's an excellent 3D blu-ray player with a strange nice look, because you can actually see the disc inside, from the top (with a light which you can also turn off if you like), like the old vhs players, sort of. The sensitive buttons are also on top, so if you want to use this you can't put another same size device on top. It can also play your old DVDs and CDs.
The 3D compatibility makes this player a bit expensive, but it's worth it if you like 3D (your tv has to be 3D, of course).
If your receiver doesn't have hdmi 1.4, you have to connect the player directly to your tv (with the one and only hdmi output) if you don't want to lose the 3D signal. For the audio we have 7.1 analog outputs.
For the network or internet connection we also have the ethernet port as the wi-fi built-in adapter, which both works great for YouTube, Twitter, Netflix (we can also download other applications to the 1 GB internal memory) or if you just want to play your media files from the computer.
The remote control is pretty nice and it can also control the tv.
At the USB port we can connect a stick or a external hdd so we can play our music, movies (even .mkv files) and see our pictures.
Today, you'll probably find a better blu-ray player for this price, but this was, and still is, a player with a lot of features and an excellent picture.
I bought this blue-ray player few years ago for around £250 from Amazon. This Samsung BD-C6900 blue-ray player has a tiny and attractive design. On the top of the device you can see your discs spinning, it is not something which is necessary, but the design is very nice and refreshing. On the front, there is drive tray, a single USB socket and a simple LED display (showing time or play time of your discs). The device has a built-in Wi-Fi. On the back there is a Ethernet socket, an HDMI socket. The device supports 3D (3D glasses were not included in the package, however today they are cheap to buy).
The quality picture is amazing, I was watching all genres - from action to animation and all gave me an amazing experience. Even though this player is already few years old I still continue to use it. The device has excellent 3D capability and great and easy to use internet functionality. It found my Network without any input from me.
The device is very easy to set up out of the box, you just need to enter a password. The box includes a small remote control as well. The only issue with it was the full screen options which I needed to press quite a lot times until it worked properly.
Overall I am very satisfied with this Samsung BD-C6900 and I am not planing to replace it any time soon.
I would definitely recommend this product. You get a great quality and an amazing movies experience.
The Samsung is undeniably one of the most flashy-looking players I've seen, with its touch-sensitive buttons and a blue-lit window to our frantically spinning disc, but it's not exactly sophisticated, and feels a little flimsy next to some. At just over £200 now, its dropped by 25% of its original price, making it an absolute bargain in today's market.
In terms of specification, the BD-C6900 gets a silver star for its 7.1-analogue output (you need a second HDMI for a gold star), but has it immediately ripped back off because the levels for each speaker can't be adjusted, making the feature close to pointless as well as altogether annoying!
The built-in wi-fi adapter is a reservation-free feature though, and, along with the ethernet connection, allows easy access to services like LoveFilm and BBC iPlayer, which is great for catching up on all your favourite shows.
The Samsung is also right at the top of the class with its DVD playback feature, as it manages to upscale the brilliant Sherlock Holmes with excellent detail, sharpness and control - poised perfection.
This sonic performance however favours solidity over outright precision and detail, unfortunate to say the least, but it remains expressive enough to offer reasonably emotive dialogue as well as big explosions, great for those family action packed movies we all love.
So, all-in-all Samsung has produced an accomplished all-rounder that's now at a very good price. Thing is, there are even cheaper – and better – rivals available, so maybe scout around for these before buying this one.
I bought this blu ray dvd player for my sons bedroom. he has a tv in there but the aerial wasn't sorted at the time, so I thought if I get him a blu ray player then he can just watch all his favourite movies in there.
the look of this dvd player is fantastic, black, really slimline, and looks really modern which is one thing I look for with anything I purchase.
it was really easy to install, basically just plug a hdmi lead into the back of your tv and into the back of this player and away you go.
when you turn the dvd player on the top of it lights up with the blu ray logo, as well as the touch sensitive controls which also light up, and a window that you can see your disc spinning around through (a feature my 4 year old found fascinating!)
there are usb ports on the front which I use to plug in a usb memory stick that I have put more movies on for my son. this player also connects to my wifi network so can play digital content that is shared on my home network, although my son doesn't use this feature.
there are a ton of features that I haven't even looked at on the player, and probably never will, but I thought if im going to buy a blu ray player I might as well get one of good quality that does lots of various things, rather than getting a basic player and needing to upgrade in the future.
my son got tons of new blu ray dvds for Christmas so he is one very happy little boy being able to watch these in his bedroom. the Disney blu rays in particular look amazing and I find myself hooked onto them sometimes just because the picture quality is so great! although we haven't played any 3d movies on it yet, im sure we will do in the future and im confident it will play them just as good as it does blu ray discs.
This is definitely one of the best players you are going to find on the market, with a huge number of features (the most important being it is one of only a few 3D capable Blu-ray players) and a very affordable price tag.
Design: The player looks sleek and minimalistic, something that will definitely go well pretty much where ever you put it. One of those that just fits with its surroundings. As soon as you turn it on the top panel comes to life with Blu-ray 3D logos, touch controls and the window which shows the disc. One of Samsung's better designed products.
Connectivity: There are plenty of ports on the back of this so you definitely aren't going to run out anytime soon. Component, composite and of course HDMI are included, pretty much anything you might need this has it.
Features: As mentioned earlier, the main draw of this player is definitely the fact it is one of the only 3D Blu-ray players available. The 3D works great, but only if you have a TV that will support it (no red and cyan here). If you don't have a 3D TV however, don't let that turn you off, since this is one of the best players you can get, regardless of the 3D feature. It has a wifi adapter that will support most bandwidths. The internet TV function is also great, with a wide range of applications for almost anyone, including youtube, twitter and facebook. The interface also looks great.
If you are going to get a blu-ray player soon (no matter if you have a 3D TV or not) definitely make it this one.
We recently bought a 3D TV and in order to get the best out of it we thought we would upgrade our blu ray player. We wanted a Samsung player for aesthetic purposes, (We already had a Samsung television) but after studying the market the Samsung players all came out on top. The player we decided on wasn't the latest Samsung blu ray player. In hindsight I wish we would have got the new D6900 because for only an extra £10.00 we could have got a PDR ready machine. We paid £206.00 for our machine from Amazon but I have seen it for £199.99 elsewhere on the internet. The reason we chose Amazon was that we had a £50.00 voucher from Sky to use.
I'm so impressed with the quality of the images on the screen and the features of this blu ray player it knocks spots off our old machine (which cost us about £100 more when we bought it!) As soon as the machine arrived we tried it out with our 2D Avatar and it was incredible. Since then we have purchased Tron in 3D (not my choice) and it was out of this world, it actually took my breath away! The player features full HD 1080P upscalling so all your old DVDs will look refreshed and more vivid when played through this machine. They are played in high definition and look extremely impressive. The TV and blu ray player work in perfect harmony to create a superb cinematic experience. I honestly love watching 3D films on it and can't wait till more come on the market.
My friends who have come round to see it are overwhelmed at how amazing the quality is. Unfortunately I don't have glasses for everyone so we had to share!
It is slim and sexy and as with all Samsung products it is designed to look fantastic. It has touch-sensitive buttons that are located in the easy to reach position of on top of the player and there is a funky blue-lit transparent window on top you can see what disk is playing. The disc tray is hidden behind a small automatic door on the far left. On the back, there are tonnes of sockets. There's an Ethernet jack for Internet TV options, (There is also built in wifi) component and composite video outputs (which we don't use and as far as I can see are pretty pointless; 3D won't work over component and the quality of composite is not very good. I want to get the best out of my machine but I suppose some people may find a use for them.
There is also a 7.1 analogue audio out for connection to an AV receiver. This facility means you should get fantastic surround-sound experience with almost any AV receiver. The machine can decode Dolby Digital, DTS decoder, Dolby Digital Plus, Dolby TrueHD, DTS-HD Master Audio, DTS-HD High Resolution and send them out through the 7.1 or the HDMI socket. This is a 1.4 connector, which means that it is able to make your TV automatically switch into 3D mode when a 3D disc is playing. The audio we receive is fantastic through the HDMI socket; however the cable is not supplied and is about £4.99 from Amazon.
The machine measures 43.3 cm x 20.5 cm x 4.3 cm so it is a little longer than other players but it fits on the glass shelving unit without any problems.
What's in the box:
* The blu ray player
* Instructions (complicated)
* 1 x A/V cable
* 1 x power cable
I found the player really easy to set up for playing films. It is so quick to load and doesn't make any humming or whirring noises. As soon as the blu ray enters the machine it kicks in and loads up. No longer do you have to watch films with those annoying black bands at the top and bottom of the screen; you spend money on a decent sized TV and you want to use it all! The player can convert 21:9 aspect ratio movie to 16:9. This feature is easy to find on the menu option.
The player connected to our network without us having to do anything. All we had to do was enter the password. This is a great feature and there are quite a few nice features on this portal. We can connect to BBC iplayer, YouTube and Love Fim.com. The Samsung's Internet@TV portal is available through the built in wifi connector or the Ethernet connection. There is access to the app shop where you can download apps similar to how the iphone works. These are something we have not got into as the quality is not very good and there is no HD content. It also seems to constantly ask us to accept updates which are frustrating as you have to wait for them to load! As well as online options you can also stream content straight from your pc or lap to your player. You can also play media files from memory sticks and portable hard drives. There is capability to connect with most types of video format. If watching downloaded films is something you want to do then this DVD will be perfect for you.
I would fully recommend this player. If I wanted the whole package I'd look at offers where you can get the Samsung TV, Blu ray and 3d glasses. It works out a lot cheaper to do it this way but nevertheless I think £206.00 is a good price to pay for this; the quality is superb and rivals the cinema. There was a voucher included with our player for a pair of 3D glasses which was a nice bonus as we were not told about this before purchase.
