The player needs updates as for some reason Bluray isn't quite a polished product as yet so some players do struggle with newer discs. I also think that you will have to know your way round a computer a bit or can read and understand a set of instructions to be able to create an update USB drive/CD drive to get this player up-to-date. The Sharp BD-HP21H is a cheap way to get into the Bluray world. Its not the best player however as it has a few things that drags it down. People tend to get lost in all things Bluray and its a confusing time out there for the average consumer - shall I go for Profile 1.0, 1.1 or 2.0? Now for me it isn't so much of an issue as I simply want to throw in a movie disc and watch a film - I have never been a fan of the DVD extras but I know some people out there are. Profile 2.0 gives you access to online extra content and allows updates via the network port on the back of the player. Hi Def Bargain This is my first experience of a Hi-Definition blu ray player in the home setting which I (gratefully) recieved as a gift. I actually got it for a 22in tv in my bedroom which is an adequate size and is HD ready. Bear in mind also that full HD output becomes more apparent on larger screens. I think my tv is 720p as opposed to the full 1080p. As such I get excellent picture quality and know it will get better when the player is mated to a larger screen tv.
