I haven't had a Blu-ray player for that long as I felt that although the players had come down in price, the DVDs still seemed to be that bit more expensive. I wasn't keen to start changing my DVDs over, but I made the decision to buy a player and then purchase dvds on Blu-ray from then on as you only pay a little more for a disc in this way, or if you wait a couple of months before buying the disc then it does get cheaper.
I bought this online for £45 which I thought was a good enough price for a brand named player. You can get cheaper ones that this thesedays.
The look of this player is ok. Quite slim and although quite long this sits on my shelf alright. The plastic this is made from isn't the kind of plastic that seems to be cheap and would mark easy.
I find that the picture on this player is good. I don't have any other Blu-Ray player to compare this to but the picture is nice and clear and the colours are vivid as well. I can't say that price will come into it, but I guess that this is an older player in the Blu-Ray world and perhaps a newer one with perhaps more features and bits and pieces may be better, but this does what it is meant to do which is show a picture in a good quality.
I use this player connected up to the Television and also a surround sound system and i've had the speakers for a good few years now so they aren't up to the minute but they work well with this player. The sound without all the speakers connected still sounds good and doesn't sound muffled. It still sounds better with a bit bass behind it.
There is a few buttons on the player but there is lots of Buttons on the Remote. I've only used a handful of the buttons - just the usual, open/close, on/off, and a few of the settings buttons but nothing else.
So this all sounds good - is their any bad points to this? Well quite a few times a disc has stuck and when I take the disc out to clean it the disc looks to be clean and nothing apparent on the disc to make it stick. Sometimes the picture has stuck and went a little bit distorted but this only has been a few times, and I guess that can happen with any player.
So this has been a good enough purchase. It does a good job and the price was alright as well.
