      Great player

This Blu ray player is one of Sony more expensive models. Sony is the brand which most people measure Blu ray player quality against, so surly this is a brilliant player? Well it depends what kind of person you are. If you're an audio/video purist and want the best possible quality to go into your TV you'll love this. If you want loads of features and gadgets you might be better with the Sony BDP-S370.

This player features some great quality video and audio processing, the picture and audio is great. Sony claim this is due to their new bit mapping and x.v. colour technology, these things are meant to allow for more colour variation therefore making picture look more realistic. This is true although I'd say larger television would benefit more. It also up-scales DVDs, making a marked improvement in quality.

The player also features Wi-Fi to allow for firmware updates and access to BD live features on disc. DLNA is a communication protocol and allows for JPEGs to be transferred wirelessly, JPEGs can also be viewed via USB also.

This is a great player if your priority is quality, but make sure you have a quality TV or it's a waste. This model is due to be replaced in September by the BDP S760 so you might be as well waiting for that.

The BDP-S760 is fully Wi-Fi enabled using Wireless-N, the fastest and most reliable wireless system. It is also Wi-Fi Protected Setup (WPS) enabled, which means that by pressing a single button on the WPS enabled router a secure connection from your player to the wireless network is established.

The wireless capability of the BDP-S760 also means it's even easier for you to run firmware updates for your player via the Internet and to experience the exciting possibilities offered by BD-Live. More and more titles are utilizing BD-Live, allowing you to enjoy bonus content such as additional scenes, trailers and movie-based games.

The Blu-ray player is DLNA certified, allowing the transfer of JPG files from other DLNA enabled devices, such as your VAIO PC, even if they're not in the same room.
