Build a Beetle ... a Beetle is a brilliant boad game for families with young kids. I bet it s especially useful for families with more than one under five, thanks to how simple it is to learn to play. It s made by Chad Valley, and is available from Argos for only £5.99. I think that s a bargain buy for keeping the kids happy on a Sunday afternoon, and it would be a great idea for Christmas too. The aim of the game is simply to be the one to build a beetle first. You get four beetle bodies included in the box, along with a plastic tray full of beetle parts and a dice. Paul Lamond Games Thomas & Friends Windy Day Rescue Game ... Windy Day Rescue Game is a lovely little game for pre-schoolers. The aim of the game is to go around the track collecting items that have blown around during a storm. There are 4 characters to choose from. You roll a coloured dice and move along the board to the next space of that colour, collecting any items that are on the space. There is the Fat Controller who takes back items, and the signalman who either lets you carry on or miss a turn. The game is aimed at children who are 3 plus, but I would say any older than five and they are too old to get much enjoyment out of it. Buckaroo! ... is a fantastic game for children of all ages! My 3 year old son loves playing it with both his friends and parents. The game involves a mule which needs to be laden down with items such as a lantern, a hat and a rope. You gently place the items onto his saddle and try to avoid him bucking and throwing all the items off. The game is fast paced, fun and easy to understand. It only takes a few minutes which makes it ideal for busy families or a quick game before bedtime. It isn t very sensitive to weight which makes it ideal for a 3 year old, but older children may find it fairly boring as it is very easy to place all of the items onto the saddle without h...
