Advantages: Fun game that gets you thinking
Disadvantages: May lead to arguments
I was a bit skeptical about playing this game when it was first brought out at a party. It is all about word play and being an engineer if it doesn't involve numbers then I usually struggle. That wasn't the case with this game; it was good fun to start with and even better after you lose you inhibitions
How do you play?
You need at least 4 people (2 teams of 2) to have a game, but the more the merrier. In your teams you take turns in trying to describing the items to your team mate. This sounds easy but you are not allowed to used the word itself and or any derivative of it, you are also not allowed to use it sounds like or mime anything.
The more answers you get right in one turn of the egg timer the more squares you move. It is a circular board and the idea is you move around until one team wins by completing a circuit. There are more rules but I won't bore you with them now. You will just have to play the game to find them out.
There are a number of different categories from which the item which you will describe comes from. Object, Action, Nature, People and places each of these has a different colour and which one you choose is dependant on which colour you land on.
Hopefully that explains it but the only way really to get a hang of the rules is to play the game.
Why I like it?
I love the fact that it gets everyone in the room talking. Even the quietest of your friend will be drawn out of their shell and they will win the admiration of the group when they will describe something perfectly. It is also interesting watching people struggle to describe an item only to discover what it is at the end of the time. It give you a little insight into how your friends think.
It is always easier describing things when you are not put under the pressure of being timed..
Caution.
In my experience you shouldn't play this game with a set of sisters in the same team. I have found they can have an almost psychic connection that would lead you to believe they may be cheating. I also guarantee in its lifetime this game will lead to arguments.
Enjoy It
This game is incredibly addictive and you will want to play again and again. Infact one year my family actually ditched the board and we just sat around describing stuff until the wee small hours of the morning.
Summary: Buy this Game! You will not regret it!
