Backgammon is a board game that has been played in some form for possibly five thousand years, it was definitely played by the Ancient Greeks and the Romans. The game as it is played today is from 17th century England, and that is when it got the name backgammon. It is thought that the doubling cube was not introduced until the 1920's. More recently it has become the game of playboys and film stars lke Omar Sharif, as well as elderly men sitting outside cafes in the eastern sunshine. The equipment for the game is very simple, a board, 15 white counters, 15 red/black counters, 2 pairs of dice, 2 dice cups and a doubling cube. the prices of backgammon sets ... I’m going to give a brief introduction to the game of backgammon, together with recommendations about which computer version to play (for free) and also how to start playing online. I find it a fascinating game and I love playing and also reading about it to learn new strategies for winning. The Internet has brought new life to backgammon because it is so suited to online gaming. Because backgammon is a dice game, many people make the mistake of thinking that it is a game of chance. But to play backgammon successfully you need to work hard at learning and developing strategy, otherwise whatever luck the dice brings you, will be wasted because you ... Read the complete review

Backgammon is one of those fantastic games that you can master quickly and show off your skill. I've been playing it since i was a little girl and it came as a surprise to me that not only had my partner never played it, he'd never heard of it! This makes me want to bring backgammon back into the spotlight for others to play and enjoy. Backgammon is a simple game with a simple concept - move your pieces off of the board before your opponent moves all of theirs off. It sounds easy doesn't it? Well, depending on who you play, it isn't! The board is quite simple and contains 24 points (spaces to anyone that doesn't speak backgammon), 12 by you, 12 by ... Read the complete review

Have you ever played Backgammon? It really is ace. I was taught how to play in about 10 minutes on holiday about 5 years ago. Since then, I have been hooked. Its for 2 players and involves counters of 2 different colours (normally Black and White) and a board . The Board has 24 triangles on it with 12 of them facing the other 12 like below..... > < > < > < You move your counters from one end of the board around to your opponents home area. He/she does the same to you. Its best to keep 2 counters on the same triangle because a single piece can be "taken" if landed on by your opponent. This forces your piece back to ... Backgammon type games have existed for thousands of years, evidence of its existence during Greek and Roman times for example is common. However, the game did not actually come to Britain until after 1025, thought to have been brought to England by men returning from the Crusades. Unfortunatly, like a variety of games that were played for money it became prohibited and didn't make a revival until the reign of Elizabeth I. Rules remained pretty much the same until the 17th century, upon which changes were made to the rule (such as the addition of the doubling dice). The game is played on a board with 4 "tables" each with 6 thin ... Read the complete review
