Advantages: an excellent board game, enhances the mind

Disadvantages: some find it hard to grasp the rules

Boggle is nothing but a timeless classic. It is certainly one of my top five favourite board games of all time. It consists of a tray which contains 16 dice, with letters on each size and a kind of lid which one shakes the dice in before allowing them to settle in a new, different position.

It is then up to the players to try and make as many words as possible with linking letters that must touch diagonally, or adjacently. This to me is an easy concept to grasp, as it would be for many, but some players seem to be unable to understand this rule and think of it as an exercise in making any word from any of the letters. Still, the players are given a time limit in which to do this, and at the end there is a scoring system to determine the winner.

What is wonderful about boggle is that it appeals to so many different generations and can be a real winner when you have grandkids and grandparents in the same room! It is also great for improving literacy skills, which are so important. I recently got a pocket version of this and haven't stopped playing!

Summary: perfect for players of all ages, a wonderful traditional game
